<br/><br/> <strong>Job Description:</strong> <p>Horry-Georgetown Technical College (HGTC) is a two-year community/technical college that offers more than 75 associate degrees, diplomas, and certificate programs for students who are either seeking quick entry into the workforce or desiring to transfer to a senior institution to pursue a bachelor’s degree. HGTC offers three convenient campus locations in South Carolina: Myrtle Beach, Conway, and Georgetown.</p> <p>Horry-Georgetown Technical College is seeking a full-time Sociology instructor.  This position will report to the Chair of the Humanities, Fine Arts, Social Sciences, and Human Services Department in the School of Arts and Sciences.  </p> <p>The instructor hired will be responsible, in part, for the following duties. </p> <ul> <li>Preparing detailed and engaging lessons for both face-to-face and online instruction</li> <li>Developing course syllabi, goals, and objectives</li> <li>Evaluating students’ progress in attaining goals and objectives</li> <li>Assessing students’ learning and adjusting instruction accordingly</li> <li>Developing and implementing plans to improve student success </li> <li>Maintaining knowledge of current trends and developments in the field by attending staff development training, workshops, seminars and conferences</li> <li>Meeting with students, staff members, and other educators to discuss students’ instructional programs and other issues impacting the progress of students</li> <li>Providing academic advisement to students</li> <li>Teaching at various campus locations, as needed</li> <li>Serving on committees, which help the college, faculty, staff, and students</li> </ul> <p>To be considered for the position, an applicant must have either a Master’s degree in Sociology or a Master’s degree in another field of study and no fewer than 18 hours in Graduate-level (Master’s, Ph.D.) Sociology classes.  Because HGTC has three main campuses and other remote-teaching locations, an applicant must be willing to travel, if needed, to different locations.</p> <br/><br/> <strong>Advertised Salary:</strong> <p><span style="font-family: -webkit-standard; font-size: medium;">Salary is commensurate with education and work experience.
