Bilingual Associate Group Underwriter

Sun Life Assurance Company of Canada is seeking a Bilingual Associate Group Underwriter. The role involves assessing and managing risk, providing insights and solutions for client problems, and collaborating with sales and service teams to ensure outstanding client services.

Responsibilities

• Assess and manage risk by analyzing data relating to requests from existing customers or new business opportunities
• Provide insights and creative solutions to help solve existing or new client problems when issues arise
• Set pricing to renewal in-force contracts and provide quotations for new business opportunities
• Meet Sun Life’s quality and service standards and respecting deadlines
• Develop a good understanding of the administrative, contractual and legislative Group Benefits environment
• Develop a strong understanding of Sun Life’s products and services, underwriting guidelines, systems and tools, pricing methodologies and market feedbacks
• Partner with the sales and service team to provide outstanding client services and achieve profitability objectives

Skills

• Bilingualism (French, English, both oral and written) is required for the frequent interactions with English and French-speaking colleagues or internal partners across Canada and worldwide
• Strong knowledge in Microsoft Suite
• Solid analytical, mathematical and problem solving skills
• Have a structured and systematic approach aimed at making a unique contribution to various emergency situations in compliance with internal policies and directives
• Attention to details
• Ability to work both independently and as a member of a team, under pressure, in an organized, efficient and autonomous manner
• Positive attitude and enthusiasm for working in a fast-paced, multi-tasking environment
• Excellent interpersonal skills
• Demonstrated communication and negotiation skills both written and verbal
• STEM-related degree (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics), Administration, Finance or Accounting degree or equivalent experience
