Job Summary: Inspiring Student Success through Physical Education
As a Teacher: Physical Education, you will be responsible for developing and implementing engaging physical education programs that cater to the diverse needs of our students. You will create a positive and inclusive learning environment that promotes student involvement, motivation, and achievement. Your expertise will help students develop essential life skills, such as teamwork, communication, and problem-solving, while fostering a lifelong appreciation for physical activity and healthy living.
Key Responsibilities: Driving Student Success
- Develops and implements comprehensive physical education lesson plans that align with curriculum frameworks and cater to diverse student needs.
- Creates a positive and inclusive learning environment that promotes student engagement, motivation, and achievement.
- Assesses student progress using a range of evaluation techniques, providing constructive feedback and guidance to support student growth.
- Fosters a culture of respect, empathy, and inclusivity, promoting positive relationships among students, colleagues, and the broader school community.
- Collaborates with colleagues, parents, and students to identify and address student needs, developing targeted strategies to support student success.
- Maintains accurate and complete records, adhering to relevant laws, policies, and regulations.
- Participates in staff meetings, professional development opportunities, and other activities that support school improvement and community engagement.
Essential Qualifications: The Skills and Knowledge We Require
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- A Bachelor's degree in a relevant field from a regionally accredited college or university.
- A valid Educator Certification: Professional Eligibility Certificate (PEC) issued by the Maryland State Department of Education (MSDE).
- One (1) year of experience with virtual learning technology, remote instruction platforms, Learning Management Systems, and video conferencing tools (if assigned to Virtual Academy).
- Knowledge of school organization, curriculum, teaching techniques, and current trends in physical education.
- Excellent oral and written communication and human relations skills.
- Ability to infuse technology into curriculum and demonstrate proficiency with business technology applications.
- Bilingual and biliterate skills (if assigned to a bilingual program).
Preferred Qualifications: The Skills and Knowledge That Set You Apart
While not essential, the following qualifications will be highly regarded:
- Experience working with diverse student populations and developing culturally responsive teaching practices.
- Knowledge of crisis intervention techniques and physical restraint methods.
- Experience with curriculum development and implementation.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint).
