About the Role
We are currently seeking a highly skilled and experienced Roundabout Assessment Innovation and Information Director to lead our tax data and technology initiatives. This pivotal role will serve as a vital contributor to our Finance Group and will be responsible for supporting the innovation and information needs of the entire organization. You will report directly to the Chief Financial Officer and work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure the integrity, efficiency, and advancement of our tax data ecosystem.

This individual will also support the assessment data needs arising from our business expansion and tax compliance projects, acting as a bridge between tax, engineering, and business teams to identify and execute necessary changes to our data infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities
- Strategic Partnership: Work directly with stakeholders to identify tax data and technology needs, define comprehensive requirements, and manage execution of critical initiatives from conception to completion.
- Technical Collaboration: Partner directly with data engineers and developers to design new data sources and tooling that meet the evolving needs of the tax and finance teams.
- Innovation Champion: Constantly challenge the status quo and develop smarter, more efficient ways of approaching complex data challenges and workflow optimization.
- Problem Solving: Tackle intricate problems using data-driven approaches at scale, implementing solutions that have enterprise-wide impact.
- Technology Exploration: Experiment with cutting-edge technologies such as Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning to bring innovative solutions to tax processes and data management.
- Roadmap Development: Participate in defining the organization's tax data and automation strategy, contributing to long-term technological roadmaps that align with business objectives.
- Cross-Functional Leadership: Work cross-functionally end-to-end, between our business teams at the front, engineering in the middle, and accounting teams at the back to ensure the integrity of our tax data streams throughout the organization.
- Team Empowerment: Elevate the tax team's understanding and utilization of automation technologies through knowledge sharing, training, and collaborative initiatives.
- Process Excellence: Develop and maintain workflows using Alteryx Cloud and other automation platforms to streamline tax data processing and reporting.
- Data Governance: Ensure data quality, consistency, and compliance across all tax-related data systems and reporting mechanisms.
Essential Qualifications
- Educational Background: Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Accounting, MIS, Computer Science, Finance, or a comparable field of study is required.
- Financial Data Expertise: Demonstrated experience managing large sets of financial data with accuracy and attention to detail.
- Experience Level: Minimum of 4+ years of progressive experience in data and automation roles; prior tax-related data experience is highly preferred.
- Technical Proficiency: Strong experience developing workflows in Alteryx Cloud is essential for this role.
- Database Skills: Deep experience running complex SQL queries and managing relational databases.
- Technology Stack: Working knowledge of technology tools including Alteryx Desktop, Snowflake, Python, and other data processing platforms.
- Requirements Development: Experience writing business requirements and conducting testing to support large-scale data projects.
- Data Analysis: Proven experience participating in the exploration and testing of new data sets and data sources.
- Productivity Tools: Proficiency in using various productivity platforms such as Monday.com, Microsoft Office Suite, and Google Workspace (G-sheets, docs, and slides).
- Analytical Abilities: Strong attention to detail combined with exceptional analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Self-Motivation: Self-motivated individual with a proven ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously and prioritize work independently.
- Intellectual Curiosity: Naturally curious and driven to find the right answer, even when facing complex challenges.
- Communication Skills: Outstanding written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate technical concepts for non-technical stakeholders.
- Emotional Intelligence: Strong sense of empathy and compassion for others, fostering collaborative relationships across all levels of the organization.
Preferred (Bonus) Qualifications
- Experience with Machine Learning and Statistical Analysis methodologies
- Knowledge of database design and ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) best practices
- Proficiency in scripting languages and the ability to review code for accuracy
- Alteryx Core Certification
- CPA, CMA, or equivalent professional certification (or candidate status)
- Experience in SaaS or technology-driven financial services environments
- Familiarity with international tax regulations and compliance frameworks
