Position Overview
As the Information Researcher – Real World Evidence at arenaflex, you will be responsible for producing high-quality Real World Evidence through advanced research and creative methodologies in the clinical trials space. You will be a vital part of the Logical Undertakings group, working alongside cross-functional teams to deliver actionable insights from diverse data sources.
This role offers the unique opportunity to apply your data science expertise to address critical business questions while making a meaningful impact on healthcare outcomes. You will report directly to the Chief of Clinical Data Science and collaborate with various stakeholders across the organization to advance our RWE capabilities and support our biopharmaceutical partners.
Key Responsibilities
- Data Mining and Analysis: Mine raw datasets to deliver normalized, analysis-ready patient cohorts from in-house data resources or licensed platforms. Analyze and interpret complex results while shaping overall analysis strategy to maximize insight generation.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with members of the arenaflex Clinical Trial team to deliver meaningful insights from real-world, clinical, and other data sources to support biopharmaceutical RWE and clinical trial requests. This includes analyzing unmet medical needs, safety and efficacy profiles in specific disease states, treatment patterns, healthcare economic burden, and cost-effectiveness modeling.
- Data Management and Integration: Clean, transform, and store data into an integrated data lake architecture for future analysis and broader team utilization. Ensure data integrity, consistency, and accessibility across the organization.
- Statistical Analysis and Modeling: Perform sophisticated data mining and statistical analysis on RWE/Real World Data (RWD) to discover new insights regarding patient populations and treatment outcomes. Apply advanced statistical techniques to uncover patterns and correlations that inform clinical decision-making.
- Capability Development: Support the development of real-world data, analytics, and platform capabilities by applying advanced analysis and tools to address scientific inquiries from biopharmaceutical organizations. Contribute to the continuous improvement of our analytical infrastructure.
- Research Study Execution: Collaborate on the design and execution of outcomes research studies, ensuring methodological rigor and scientific validity throughout the research lifecycle.
- Quality Assurance: Ensure high-quality, rigorous, and readily interpretable outputs from RWE reviews and investigations. Maintain the highest standards of scientific excellence in all deliverables.
- Reporting and Visualization: Build dashboards, analyses, and reports for both internal and external use, translating complex data into actionable insights that drive strategic decision-making.
- Vendor Evaluation: Conduct due diligence on new real-world data providers and vendors, driving RWD quality assessments to inform project decisions and ensure we work with the most reliable data sources.
Essential Qualifications
- Statistical Expertise: Proven experience designing and executing robust and reproducible statistical analyses in the context of epidemiology and observational research with healthcare data. Strong foundation in statistical theory and application is essential.
- Statistical Methods Proficiency: In-depth knowledge of common statistical testing techniques including generalized linear models, clustering and segmentation, decision trees, unsupervised learning, time series analysis, and survival analysis. Ability to select appropriate statistical methods based on research questions and data characteristics.
- Large Data Handling: Demonstrated experience processing large-scale data from multiple data sources, with the ability to manage, clean, and transform high-volume datasets efficiently.
- Healthcare Data Privacy: Experience handling protected patient health information (PHI) with a strong understanding of data privacy regulations and compliance requirements.
- Business Intelligence Tools: Proficiency in at least one of the following: Tableau, Power BI, Alteryx, Spotfire, or other BI and visualization tools. Ability to create compelling data visualizations that communicate complex findings effectively.
Preferred Qualifications
- Advanced Degree: PhD or Master's degree in statistics/biostatistics, computer science, mathematics, systems engineering, biomedical engineering, or a related quantitative field. Advanced training in quantitative methods is highly valued.
- Healthcare Data Systems: Expertise in EMR/Health IT systems, disease registries, and insurance claims databases. Familiarity with the structure and content of electronic health records and healthcare administrative data.
- Clinical Data Standards: Proficiency in clinical data standards, clinical terminologies, and controlled vocabularies used in healthcare data and ontologies, including ICD-9/10 and ReadCodes.
- Regulatory Knowledge: Experience in Good Clinical Practice (GCP) and regulatory compliance guidelines for real-world evidence studies or clinical trials, including ISO standards, MDD/MDR, and CFR requirements.
- Alternative Data Sources: Experience working with alternative data sources and alternative methods for clinical data collection, especially those enabled by technology platforms and solutions. Experience with digital health data, wearable device data, or patient-generated health data is a plus.
- Advanced Analytics: Experience with experimental design, Bayesian modeling, sequential data, and computational statistics. Familiarity with machine learning methods and the ability to apply them appropriately to healthcare research questions.
- Continuous Learning: Strong understanding of statistics and machine learning methods, with the ability to continuously self-learn both technical and non-technical skills in this rapidly evolving field.
