Position Overview: Team Lead, IT Data Governance
We are currently seeking an experienced and motivated professional to join arenaflex as a Team Lead, IT Data Governance. This critical role focuses on one or more of the following Data Management Capabilities:
- Data Education: Develop an information-driven organization by building data literacy across all departments
- Data Stewardship: Identify and empower our Data Stewards to ensure proper data management practices
- Data Quality: Ensure that arenaflex has trusted data to succeed in all business operations
- Metadata Management: Inventory our Data Assets and Business Concepts for improved discoverability
- Master Data Management: Master our organizational data to ensure consistency and accuracy
- Data as an Asset: Maximize the value of our valuable data assets through strategic utilization
- Privacy and Compliance: Ensure responsible use and care of our data while meeting regulatory requirements
As a Team Lead, you will be responsible for leading the creation, maintenance, and rollout of arenaflex's Data Management capabilities. You will own the function's workflows, standards, processes, procedures, and guidelines required to make data governance a daily reality across the organization.
Key Responsibilities
As the Team Lead, IT Data Governance at arenaflex, you will:
- Lead the creation, maintenance, and rollout of arenaflex's Data Management capabilities and programs
- Be accountable for the function's workflows, standards, processes, procedures, and rules needed to make data governance an everyday reality
- Serve as a key contributor to the Data Governance Program Management from a Data Quality perspective
- Collaborate across the Enterprise to enable Data Management and data Quality standards
- Work with our Data Governance Leadership Board to define and monitor core metrics and KPIs for each capability
- Research, review, recommend, and rollout new software solutions that enhance our data management capabilities
- Work with the Data Management Platform team(s) to automate capability processes
- Act as the Product Owner for capability products and initiatives
- Serve as the capability's representative and primary advocate within the organization
- Develop and implement data governance policies that align with regulatory requirements including GDPR and CCPA
- Mentor and guide junior team members in best practices for data management
- Create comprehensive documentation for data governance processes and procedures
Required Qualifications and Experience
To be successful in this role, you must have:
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Business Administration, or a related field
- Experience: Minimum 5 years of Data Analysis and/or Data Management experience
- Proven Track Record: Experience implementing one or more Data Management capabilities in an organization
- Metrics Development: Experience developing and tracking metrics to determine adoption/progress of data management capabilities
- Technical Experience: Experience working with Business Intelligence products, Data Lakes, and Data Warehouses
- Compliance Experience: Experience working with sensitive data (e.g., PII, SPII, PHI) and relevant regulatory policies governing such data (e.g., GDPR, CCPA)
- Tools Proficiency: Experience managing Data Quality and Observability tools
Preferred Qualifications
While not required, the following qualifications will give you an edge:
- Change management experience identifying downstream data impacts for regulatory requirements and reporting
- Experience automating data management processes/workflows using market-leading data management products
- Detailed experience delivering data management artifacts such as data dictionaries, metadata, lineage, data movement controls, and data element-level data quality controls
- Experience as a Data Steward (serving as a data expert, reviewing and approving data access, acting as a product owner for a data product, data domain, etc.)
- Experience working in Agile and DevOps frameworks
- Aviation, Aerospace, Travel, or Hospitality Industry Experience
Essential Skills and Competencies
The ideal candidate will possess the following skills:
- Technical Proficiency: Working knowledge of SQL and database concepts
- Data Understanding: Strong understanding of Data and Analytical concepts
- Certifications: Data Management certifications such as CDMP (Certified Data Management Professional) or DGSP (Data Governance and Stewardship Professional) are highly desirable
- Communication Skills: Ability to bridge the communication gap by translating technical governance concepts to the Business
- Adaptability: Ability to be flexible in an evolving operating model and willing to rotate effectively on areas of focus
- Project Management: Ability to manage projects and teams from idea generation through execution
- Leadership: Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and guide teams
- Problem-Solving: Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Attention to Detail: Meticulous attention to data quality and accuracy
