Key Responsibilities
- Transcribe audio, video, typed, or handwritten materials into accurate text documents, working from home as an independent contractor.
- Deliver high-quality transcripts within 24 hours or less for an hour-long file, meeting our minimum requirement of 80 wpm typing speed.
- Work on a variety of projects, including those specific to the textile industry, requiring a strong understanding of industry-specific terminology and context.
- Follow our in-house style manual and project-specific instructions to ensure consistency and quality in your work.
- Verify names and terms via brief internet research to ensure the accuracy and historical significance of the transcripts.
- Return transcripts as .doc files, adhering to our formatting requirements.
Essential Qualifications and Skills
To succeed in this role, you'll need:
- A minimum typing speed of 80 wpm with 98% accuracy.
- Strong language, style, and punctuation skills, with the ability to follow our style manual and project-specific guidelines.
- Excellent research skills to verify names and terms.
- A reliable internet connection and a secure email address for receiving and returning project files.
- Proficiency in using transcription software, preferably controlled via hotkeys or a foot pedal, and good-quality headphones.
