Role Description
This role involves overseeing and supporting weekday pet care operations for Charleston Dog Walker.
• Manage daily operations and support the pet care team in real time
• Communicate thoughtfully with clients to ensure pets receive safe, attentive, and professional care
• Stay calm and grounded when multiple situations arise
• Make thoughtful decisions and know when to escalate issues
• Be the weekday operational lead, holding the schedule and ensuring issues are handled correctly
• Work independently while supporting the team
• Be available on-call during service hours (7:00 a.m.–9:00 p.m., Monday–Friday)
Core Responsibilities
• Team Support & Daily Operations:
• Be available during weekday service hours to support pet care staff
• Provide guidance around visit issues, pet behavior concerns, and safety questions
• Assign, adjust, and manage daily schedules using Precise Petcare
• Ensure all visits are completed accurately and documented to company standards
• Monitor GPS check-ins and visit compliance
• Arrange coverage for last-minute staff emergencies
• Conduct staff check-ins and performance follow-ups
• Track onboarding progress and support new hires
• Maintain clear communication through Slack and email
• Client Communication:
• Respond promptly to client communications
• Handle client questions, concerns, and complaints with clarity and empathy
• Support scheduling changes and account updates
• Reinforce trust through consistent communication
• Quality, Systems & Documentation:
• Track and allocate client tips and bonuses
• Maintain and update Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
• Identify recurring issues and recommend improvements
• Maintain documentation and internal operational tracking
Qualifications
• Hands-on experience caring for animals in a professional or structured care setting
• Comfortable guiding others on pet behavior and safety
• High standards and expect consistency from yourself and others
• Ability to communicate clearly and professionally
• Thoughtful and receptive to guidance and feedback
• Ability to distinguish between urgent, important, and routine matters
• Prefer structure and clarity over urgency or improvisation
Requirements
• Based in or familiar with the Charleston, SC area
• Available Monday–Friday with on-call responsiveness
• Reliable internet connection, computer, and smartphone
• Strong working knowledge of Google Drive and Microsoft Excel or Google Sheets
• Comfortable managing spreadsheets and documentation
• Legally authorized to work in the U.S. and able to pass a background check
• Prior experience in professional pet care or people management preferred
• Commitment to a long-term role (minimum 12 months)
Compensation & Role Details
• Part-time position averaging approximately 20 hours per week
• Hourly pay: $22/hour (fixed and non-negotiable)
• Paid for time worked; not a salaried role
• Premium holiday pay applies when applicable
• Paid via direct deposit on the 1st and 16th of each month
• Fully remote role with meaningful responsibility and autonomy
