This role may be filled<br>by a fully licensed LMHP or a license-eligible clinician (such as an LMHP-Resident or<br>LMHP-Supervisee) practicing under approved clinical supervision. Services are delivered ethically,<br>clinically appropriate, and in full compliance with DBHDS and DMAS requirements.<br><br>Scope of Work<br>The LMHP delivers assessment-driven, therapeutic, and stabilization-focused services to<br>individuals experiencing behavioral health crises. The LMHP may work independently or, when<br>license-eligible, under appropriate clinical supervision. The LMHP may also serve as the lead<br>clinician when working alongside QMHPs, Peer Recovery Specialists, and other support staff,<br>ensuring clinical accuracy, service quality, and regulatory compliance.<br><br>Core Clinical Responsibilities<br>• Conduct comprehensive mental health assessments and diagnostic evaluations.<br>• Formulate and document accurate diagnoses in accordance with clinical standards and scope<br>of practice.<br>• Provide individual and group therapy sessions based on client needs and program<br>requirements.<br>• Provide crisis intervention and de-escalation services as clinically indicated.<br>• Develop, implement, and update Individualized Service Plans (ISPs).<br>• Complete risk assessments and safety planning.<br>• Provide therapeutic interventions appropriate to client needs.<br>• Coordinate care and connect individuals to appropriate community resources.<br>• Collaborate with multidisciplinary providers to support continuity of care.<br><br>Documentation & Compliance Responsibilities<br>• Complete all required clinical documentation accurately and within required timeframes.<br>• Ensure documentation meets DBHDS and DMAS regulatory standards and supervision<br>requirements.<br>• Document individual and group therapy services in accordance with billing, supervision, and<br>clinical requirements.<br>• Review client charts for clinical appropriateness, accuracy, and completeness.<br>• Correct documentation errors promptly when identified.<br>• Maintain compliance with ethical standards, confidentiality requirements, and agency policies.<br><br>Clinical Leadership Responsibilities<br>• Serve as the lead clinician when working with QMHPs, Peer Recovery Specialists, and other<br>support staff, as permitted by licensure status.<br>• Ensure clinical services provided by support staff are accurate, ethical, and compliant.<br>• Provide clinical guidance to support accurate assessments, therapy delivery, and<br>documentation.<br>• Escalate clinical, supervision, or safety concerns to supervisors or leadership as appropriate.<br><br>Minimum Qualifications<br>• Active Licensed Mental Health Professional (LMHP) credential in Virginia OR license-eligible<br>status as an LMHP-Resident, LMHP-Supervisee, or equivalent recognized by the<br>Commonwealth of Virginia.<br>• Master’s degree or higher in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, or a related behavioral<br>health field.<br>• Experience providing individual and group therapy, assessments, crisis intervention, and<br>community-based mental health services.<br>• Working knowledge of DBHDS and DMAS regulations applicable to community stabilization<br>services.<br>• Ability to practice within scope of licensure and supervision requirements.<br>This document outlines general expectations for the LMHP role within assessment-driven and<br>community stabilization services.
