Goodyear Police has now implemented the iSWIFT process (Individually Scheduled Wiki Interview and Fitness Testing). iSWIFT allows applicants to work directly with the recruiting team to select interview and fitness testing dates that work around the applicant's schedule. Plus, initial interviews can be done either via online TEAMS meetings or in person, which is great for out of state applicants. This process isn't only convenient, it can expedite the hiring process by several weeks! Once the application is received and it is confirmed that the applicant meets the requirements for the position, a member of the recruiting team will contact the applicant to schedule an initial interview. If, after the interview, the applicant is selected to continue in the process, a date will be schedule for the fitness test (POPAT). If the applicant passes the fitness test, they will immediately begin the background process.

This position patrols the city of Goodyear to enforce Arizona state laws and city ordinances. They respond to emergency situations, educate the public regarding safety and security, and perform administrative duties as required. They must possess high ethical standards, actively participate in teamwork, and demonstrates knowledge of safety principals and an awareness of safety requirements at all times.

LATERAL POLICE OFFICER - The Goodyear Police Department defines a Lateral Police Officer as officers who have successfully completed a law enforcement academy and who currently possess a certification in good standing.

All lateral applicants will be required to complete and pass physical agility testing, oral board interview, and an extensive background investigation. Prior to hiring applicants will need to demonstrate firearms proficiency by successfully passing the AZPOST daylight qualification course of fire. A review of the Goodyear website is highly encouraged.

**Once applications are screened to include AZPOST information, qualifying applicants will be sent an email to participate in the applicable testing.

POLICE OFFICER PROCESSING PROCEDURES:

PHYSICAL AGILITY EVALUATION
The physical fitness evaluation is designed to give the applicant a chance to demonstrate his/her physical condition. The Goodyear Police Department uses the Police Officer Physical Aptitude Test (POPAT).
All applicants will be required to complete a liability waiver prior to participating in the physical agility evaluation. The physical evaluation consists of the following:
ORAL BOARD PANEL INTERVIEW
All applicants passing the physical agility testing will be interviewed and evaluated by an interview panel made up of, but not limited to, officers and employees of the police department. Applicants will be graded on their problem-solving abilities, interpersonal and communication skills, demeanor, and appearance.

BACKGROUND INVESTIGATION
After successful completion of the oral interview, applicants continuing in the process will be given a background packet to initiate the extensive background investigation.

POLYGRAPH EXAMINATION
After successful completion of the background investigation, applicants will be given a polygraph examination administered by a qualified, state-licensed police polygraph examiner. The examination will cover criminal activity, drug usage, truthfulness, integrity and employment history.

PSYCHOLOGICAL EVALUATION
The psychological evaluation consists of two parts: a series of written tests and an interview with a certified psychologist.

CONTROLLED SUBSTANCE SCREENING AND MEDICAL EVALUATION
Applicants will be required to submit to a controlled substance screening and medical examination.
