
Administers and provides occupational therapy and rehabilitation treatments prescribed by a physician.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide occupational therapy services under the direction of a physician.
- Instruct, prepare, and reassure resident of treatment being performed.
- Review the diagnosis of residents, evaluate the patient’s condition, establish a plan of treatment, and perform discharge planning and re-evaluation.
- Apply appropriate treatments, exercises and ambulatory procedures, and informs the resident of the treatment process.
- Monitor and adjust treatment plans based on resident progress and changing needs
- Develop and implement individualized treatment plans focused on restoring function and promoting independence
- Monitor and ensure resident safety during treatments.
- Provide care appropriate for the residents served based on demonstrated knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span.
- Assess and interpret data on the resident’s status to identify residents’ requirements relative to their age specific needs and provide care needed as stipulated in departmental policy.
- Maintain records associated with the resident's treatments.
- Document evaluations, progress notes, and discharge summaries in accordance with facility and regulatory standards
- Communicate information to the director and physician on resident’s treatment progress as directed.
- Assist in maintain stock levels of supplies and required equipment.
- Ensure inventory is adequately stocked with supplies necessary for efficient operation.
- Perform the sterilization of equipment and work area.
- Perform minor and preventative maintenance on equipment and ensure equipment is properly stored after use.
- Report equipment problems to Rehabilitation Director.
OTHER SIGNIFICANT REQUIREMENTS:
- Maintain confidentiality on a daily basis.
- Work well with other employees.
- Perform other functions and tasks as assigned.
- Follow standard precautions when providing direct patient care.
