Payroll Systems Manager

Job Description: • Administer and optimize payroll platforms, including configuration, workflows, security permissions, audits, reporting, and integrations. • Process and oversee multi-state U.S. payroll, including off-cycle payrolls, bonuses, commissions, garnishments, tax reporting, and year-end activities. • Troubleshoot payroll system issues and coordinate with vendors to resolve technical and operational challenges. • Identify and implement automation opportunities to improve payroll accuracy, efficiency, compliance, and employee experience. • Develop, maintain, and document payroll standard operating procedures, internal controls, and process documentation. • Partner closely with HR, Finance, Benefits, and Legal teams to support compensation changes, leave programs, compliance requirements, and reporting needs. • Lead payroll-related projects, system enhancements, testing efforts, and vendor management activities. • Support internal and external audits by preparing payroll documentation, reports, and compliance records. • Assist with global payroll initiatives and collaborate with international stakeholders to support payroll operations across multiple countries. • Mentor and provide guidance to junior payroll team members as needed. Requirements: • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field. • 5–7+ years of payroll operations experience, including multi-state U.S. payroll processing. • 3+ years of payroll systems administration and management experience. • 3+ years of global payroll experience supporting multiple countries and regions. • Experience administering payroll platforms such as Paycom, Rippling, ADP, UKG, or similar solutions. • Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local payroll regulations and compliance requirements. • Experience managing payroll audits, reporting, controls, and process documentation. • Experience partnering with HR, Finance, Benefits, and Legal stakeholders. • Strong systems troubleshooting, configuration, and process improvement skills. • Experience working within a consulting, professional services, or client-facing environment.
