Note: The job is a remote job and is open to candidates in USA. Barnes Aerospace is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Director, External Reporting and Technical Accounting to lead its external financial reporting and technical accounting research processes. This role is responsible for the accurate and timely preparation of external financial reporting and will serve as the key technical accounting resource, providing guidance on complex accounting matters, new accounting standards and significant transactions.
Responsibilities
- Lead the preparation and review of the Company’s quarterly and annual external reporting package, which includes ensuring financial statements, footnotes and MD&A required for debt compliance are complete, accurate and in compliance with U.S. GAAP
- Serve as subject matter expert on complex U.S. GAAP accounting matters, including but not limited to revenue recognition, business combinations, goodwill and intangible assets, leases, debt transactions, derivatives and hedging and pension & post-retirement plans
- Research, analyze and document technical accounting conclusions
- Lead the implementation of new accounting standards and related disclosure requirements
- Provide accounting guidance for acquisitions, divestitures, financings, contracts, other non-routine transactions
- Lead initiatives to improve the efficiency, accuracy and scalability of reporting and technical accounting
- Present technical accounting matters, reporting updates, and key judgments to senior leadership and external auditors
- Act as primary liaison with external auditors on reporting, technical accounting, and disclosure matters
- Coordinate audit requests and ensure timely resolution of reporting and accounting issues
- Partner with Accounting, FP&A, Legal, Treasury, Tax, external auditors, and senior leadership

- BS degree in Accounting
- 10+ years of US GAAP accounting experience, including experience with a public accounting firm or public company industry experience
- Experience with consolidation and reporting systems (Oracle and Workiva are preferred)
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation/Advanced Degree is preferred
- Additional experience in manufacturing environments is preferred
