Note: The job is a remote job and is open to candidates in USA. MBO Partners is seeking a mid-level healthcare accounting professional to support hospital clients in a highly visible consulting role. The role involves hands-on accounting execution and financial advisory support, working directly with hospital leadership to improve financial operations and reporting.
Responsibilities
- Serve as an outsourced finance and accounting consultant for hospital and healthcare clients
- Own the month-end close process, including journal entries, reconciliations, general ledger activities, and financial statement preparation
- Prepare financial reports and presentation materials for executive leadership and Boards of Directors
- Support annual audits by compiling financial data, responding to auditor requests, and coordinating required documentation
- Assist with Medicare cost reports, state reporting, and other regulatory financial reporting requirements
- Analyze financial results and provide actionable insights to hospital leadership
- Partner with client stakeholders to identify process improvements and enhance operational efficiency
- Quickly adapt to new client environments, accounting systems, and workflows
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including offshore resources when applicable, to ensure timely and accurate deliverables
Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting required (Finance or related field considered with strong accounting experience)
- Minimum of 3 years of progressive accounting experience with ownership of the full month-end close process
- Healthcare accounting experience is required, preferably supporting hospitals or health systems
- Strong understanding of general ledger accounting, month-end close, financial statement preparation, account reconciliations, and financial reporting
- Experience supporting financial audits and preparing audit documentation
- Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills
- Ability to present financial information to executive leadership and client stakeholders
- Comfortable working in a client-facing consulting environment where priorities and projects may vary
- Experience working with rural hospitals, community hospitals, and/or Critical Access Hospitals (CAHs)
- Familiarity with Medicare Cost Reports or healthcare cost reporting
- Experience supporting state reporting and regulatory compliance requirements
- Exposure to hospital ERP/EHR platforms such as Epic, Cerner, MEDITECH, and Athena
- Prior consulting or outsourced accounting experience
