Job description: JOB GOAL: To keep the Operations and Transportation Department operating smoothly and efficiently by maintaining accurate records and files providing information to parents and schools.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school diploma or higher education.
- Proficiency in keyboarding and word processing.
- Working knowledge of basic office procedures and the operation of common office equipment and machines.
- Must be self-motivated.
- CDL license or willingness to obtain.
- Processes and files all transportation/operations correspondence. Updates files on all personnel in department.
- Performs secretarial duties; answers telephone, takes messages, types reports for department as needed.
- Computes mileage and bus driver compensation trip sheets.
- Types route sheets and enters in computer.
- Enters in computer a listing of all eligible bus students, hazardous routes, special education students, etc.
- Assists parents and schools in locating bus routes, proper bus assignment, arrival, and departure times.
- Checks invoices and processes bills for payment for the transportation department.
- Updates and prepares annual transportation (state) reports for pre-kindergarten eligible riders, kindergarten, regular education, and special education eligible rider reports.
- Works in harmony with supervisory and peer personnel.
- Uses professional information discreetly and judiciously.
- Supports administrative and Board policies.
- Represents the school system to the community in a positive, professional way.
- Maintains a sincere, friendly attitude toward parents and pupils to ensure communication. Ensures real-time communications between bus drivers and transportation office during regular route runs and co-curricular travels.
- Performs such other duties as may be assigned by the supervisor.
- Conducts oneself in a professional manner in accordance with district expectations.
