Product Lead - AI and Automation

Role / Purpose:
This is a
blended Product Manager + Product Owner
role within the Automation/AI Team, combining strategic leadership with hands-on execution.
The Automation Product Manager / Product Owner will:
• Own the end-to-end lifecycle of automation opportunities—from ideation and discovery through delivery, measurement, and continuous improvement
• Flex between Product Manager and Product Owner responsibilities as team capacity and priorities shift
• Act as a strategic, outbound-facing leader Actively identifying new automation opportunities, Engaging business partners and Building and nurturing relationships across lines of business
• Act as a hands-on PO/BA: Writing detailed user stories, Documenting acceptance criteria and Supporting developers and business stakeholders throughout the build, deploy, and run phases
Main Responsibilities:
1. Opportunity Development & Outbound Engagement
• Proactively identify, qualify, and nurture automation opportunities across the enterprise
• Build strong relationships with Business Champions to gain deep domain expertise and understand operations
• Actively network across lines of business to uncover opportunities in RPA, Agentic automation, AI, and web applications
• Track leads, opportunities, and value in a disciplined, structured way (pipeline hygiene, stage tracking, etc.)
• Partner with business stakeholders to review and validate roadmap opportunities and refine priorities over time
2. Product Vision, Strategy & Roadmapping
• Define a clear automation product vision aligned with business and enterprise objectives
• Maintain a value-driven roadmap based on Impact, feasibility, urgency, and observed performance
• Establish and manage KPIs to ensure direction is continuously adjusted based on value realization
• Align opportunities and solutions with enterprise strategy and measurable outcomes
3. Problem Framing & Feasibility
• Guide opportunity assessments by clarifying Problem statements and Desired outcomes
• Document high-level As-Is workflows, identify process gaps, and propose To-Be states
• Ensure opportunities have clear hypotheses, success criteria, and KPIs before moving forward
• Evaluate feasibility across RPA, Agentic / AI, and web application solution patterns
4. Solution Strategy & Collaboration with Technical Teams
• Collaborate closely with architects and engineers to explore solution approaches
• Drive or coordinate prototype / proof-of-concept development where appropriate
• Partner with technical teams to Estimate effort, cost, and complexity
5. Business Case & Funding
• Create ROI-driven business cases that clearly articulate:
• Anticipated savings, efficiency gains, and value to the business
• Present recommendations for prioritization and funding to leadership and stakeholders
• Maintain ongoing communication with stakeholders on expectations, risks, and adjustments
6. Product Ownership, Requirements & Delivery Support
• Own and refine the product backlog
• Lead backlog grooming, sprint planning, and prioritization
• Write and maintain detailed user stories, requirements, and acceptance criteria
• Get sign-off on requirements
• Clarify edge cases and dependencies
• Hand off finalized requirements to development and provide ongoing support throughout
• Participate in Agile ceremonies (stand-ups, sprint reviews, retrospectives) to ensure alignment and progress
7. Performance Measurement & Continuous Improvement
• Define, track, and analyze KPIs and performance metrics across initiatives
• Compare actual value realized versus forecasted business case assumptions
• Adjust the roadmap and backlog, as needed
• Promote a culture of continuous improvement across automation initiatives
