Our Analytics team plays a critical role in shaping the future of our organization. We are looking for a talented and motivated Senior Data Scientist, Analytics to join our Data Platform – Insights team. In this role, you will be instrumental in defining how success is measured across our business, asking the right questions, and scaling analytical methods and tools to support our growing operations.
Position Overview

As a Senior Data Scientist, Analytics at arenaflex, you will serve as a key contributor to our Data Platform – Insights group, providing data analysis and support to platform, management, and operational engineering teams.
This is an exciting opportunity to help shape the vision for business analytics, design solutions architecture for data-driven business initiatives, and execute strategic projects such as research analysis and campaign performance reporting. You will be preparing the organization for high-quality, high-speed decision-making and will report directly to the Director of Data Science.
What You'll Do
As a Senior Data Scientist, Analytics, your responsibilities will span multiple dimensions of our data ecosystem. Here's what you can expect:
- Drive Data-Informed Decision Making: Work closely with teams across Platforms and Services to guide them toward better decision-making using available data. You'll be the bridge between technical data capabilities and business outcomes.
- Advance Insights Through Collaboration: Manage communications with partners and various teams, collaborate with stakeholders to complete data projects, and ensure all parties can leverage insights to drive continuous improvement.
- Be the Expert: Maintain a client-focused approach while becoming a subject matter expert in your domain. Develop trust among peers and ensure that teams and projects have access to the data they need to make informed decisions.
- Navigate Ambiguity: Handle complex, ambiguous issues with confidence and adapt tools and methodologies to address intricate questions that arise in our rapidly evolving environment.
- Balance Speed and Quality: Identify the trade-offs between speed and quality across different analytical approaches, ensuring that recommendations are both timely and accurate.
- Create Measurement Frameworks: Develop analytical frameworks to measure team success by collaborating with teams to establish success metrics, create methodologies to track data, analyze errors, and develop a common language for all stakeholders to understand these metrics.
- Operationalize Data Processes: Build and maintain data cycles to provide partners with ad-hoc analysis, automated dashboards, and self-service reporting tools, ensuring everyone has equal access to the state of the business.
Required Qualifications
To succeed in this role, you'll need to bring a strong foundation of experience and technical expertise:
- Experience: 3+ years of domain experience in a consumer web business, or in a fast-paced, high-growth product or team environment.
- Technical Skills: Strong SQL skills and proficiency in Python or R programming languages.
- Data-Driven Results: Demonstrated experience using data to create understanding and drive measurable business results.
- Analytical Communication: Familiarity with data analysis and communication, including time series analysis, experimentation, data visualization, and defining KPI strategies for your business area.
- Collaboration: Excellent collaborative skills with the ability to maintain strong working relationships across the organization.
- Education: Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Economics, or related discipline).
Preferred Qualifications
While not required, the following qualifications would strengthen your application:
- Passion for online communities, gaming, and interactive platforms
- Experience in Operational Excellence, defining metrics, and creating analytical reporting frameworks
- Experience working with software development and operational event data
- Knowledge of machine learning techniques such as logistic regression, decision trees, and neural networks
- Experience with big data technologies and cloud platforms
- Advanced degree in a related field
