Job Purpose
The Senior Manager, Environmental Risk is responsible for the development, implementation, and enhancement of the bank’s quantitative measurement capabilities in the area of environmental risk, including but not limited to climate risk. The role under AVP ESG risk management will support and enhance the environmental risk related regulatory compliance, strategic planning, and integration of climate‑related financial risks into enterprise risk management.

Ability to interpret multi-variable datasets, identify trends, extract insights, and translating technical analysis into clear and decision‑oriented insights.
Good climate risk skills in interpretation of Central Bank Principles, Guidelines, Consultation Drafts and Regulations on Climate related financial risk.
Familiarity with concepts of net zero transition planning and financed emissions calculations around PAT tool and PCAF scores.
Sound understanding of climate associated physical and transition risk related measurements and portfolio management, for wholesale and retail assets, especially on corporate origination & onboarding
Knowledge, Skills and Experience
Full-time graduate in Economic/ Financial/Data science discipline from a leading university.
Strong analytical and critical‑thinking skills with the ability to translate technical findings into actionable insights.
Proficiency in analytical tools such as Excel, Power BI and query based tools like SAS/R/Python, or any other climate‑risk platforms.
Professional risk management certifications related to climate risk SCR/FRM/CFA will be an advantage. SCR certified individuals will be preferred.
Good understanding of carbon accounting methodologies (PCAF alignment).
A minimum of five years of experience in a financial institution is a must. Specific climate risk and ESG risk experience will be given preference and flexibility in years.
Familiarity with sustainability reporting frameworks (e.g., TCFD, IFRS S2) and the ability to provide constructive feedback aligned with policy and regulatory requirements.
Strong analytical skills focused on assessing climate and its associated risks, conducting comprehensive research on client climate risk performance, and translating climate risks into financial implications.
Good verbal and written communication skills, adept at collaborating with diverse stakeholders across business, risk, and support functions in dynamic, multicultural environments. Arabic language will be a plus.
Well-organized and capable of managing multiple priorities while staying informed on the latest climate science, technology, policy developments, especially in the middle east, and regional/global climate trends.
