Position Overview
We are currently seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Rx Pricing & Underwriting Analyst to join our dynamic team in a fully remote capacity. This is an exciting opportunity for a detail-oriented professional with strong analytical capabilities to contribute to our pricing and underwriting operations. Key Responsibilities
As a Senior Pricing Analyst at arenaflex, you will be responsible for conducting sophisticated economic modeling and analysis to develop underwriting and pricing recommendations. Your insights will directly impact business decisions and help maintain our competitive edge in the healthcare marketplace.
- Data Analysis & Modeling: Query, review, and analyze complex datasets to prepare comprehensive analytics, including pricing and economic models. Utilize advanced Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Access, and SQL techniques to extract meaningful insights from data provided by pharmacy benefit managers, health plans, and healthcare consultants.
- Advanced Excel Expertise: Create and maintain sophisticated forecasting and underwriting models using advanced Excel functions, including pivot tables, macros, VLOOKUP, INDEX + MATCH, SUMIFS, formula auditing, and troubleshooting techniques.
- Database Management: Employ intermediate to advanced-level skills in Microsoft Access, SAS, and SQL to query and analyze large, complex datasets. Develop parameter and action queries, create table joins, build cross-tab queries, and implement macros to automate tasks and enhance user interaction.
- Process Improvement: Assume responsibility for ongoing monitoring, analysis, reporting, and automation efforts. Identify opportunities for process improvements that enhance and modernize existing pricing mechanisms.
- Problem Resolution: Identify and resolve pricing challenges by performing in-depth analysis involving both internal statistics and third-party data. Analyze data sets thoroughly and take ownership of the results presented through your analysis.
- Standard Operating Procedures: Utilize and develop standard operating procedures to analyze and respond to inquiries from internal business partners regarding pricing across various lines of business, including retail, specialty, immunizations, and clinics.
- Healthcare Industry Expertise: Apply knowledge of healthcare industries, managed care, or prescription drug industries to provide compensation rate recommendations based on complex pricing models for billion-dollar opportunities.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Communicate and collaborate effectively with business partners at all levels across various functional areas, including finance, reporting, operations, business development, and sales.
- Executive Presentations: Present pricing recommendation guidelines, data analysis, and economic models to management and leadership on a regular basis. Prepare senior-level executive documentation of pricing recommendation economic metric pointers (Executive Governance Memos).
- Mentorship: Assist other Pricing & Finance Analysts with the training of analysis and provide guidance on best practices in data analytics and modeling techniques.
Essential Qualifications
To succeed in this role, candidates must possess a unique blend of technical expertise, business acumen, and communication skills. We welcome applications from individuals who meet the following requirements:
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, Math, Business, Actuarial Science, or Pharmacoeconomics; OR a combination of education and experience that provides equivalent knowledge and skills.
- Experience: Minimum of 1 year of work experience in Pharmacy Benefit Management (PBM), Contracting, Finance, Account Management, or Pricing. Alternatively, candidates with a high school diploma/GED must have at least 4 years of experience in PBM, Contracting, Finance, Account Management, or Pricing.
- Analytical Skills: Minimum of 1+ years of pricing/economic analysis or related experience, including experience using Excel for economic data analysis and/or economic modeling.
- Technical Proficiency: Strong knowledge of data, business metrics, and operational processes. Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (including functions like AVERAGE, merging and centering cells, creating pivot tables) and intermediate skills in Microsoft PowerPoint and Word.
- Critical Thinking: Excellent analytical abilities with experience in analyzing and reporting data to identify issues, trends, or exceptions. Strong capability to undertake results, handle ambiguity, resolve problems, make decisions, identify trends/patterns in data sets, and determine root causes.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills to present information effectively to executives and leaders throughout the organization.
- Organization: Strong organizational skills with the ability to multi-task concurrent assignments while meeting deadlines with a quality product.
- Customer Service: Experience providing customer service to internal and external clients, including meeting quality standards.
- Travel: Willingness to travel up to 10% of the time for business purposes (within state and out of state).
Preferred Qualifications
