Position Overview

As an Associate Data Engineer at arenaflex, you will play a critical role in supporting the design and deployment of data engineering solutions. You will be responsible for building analytical solutions and maintaining systems to accommodate evolving business requirements. This position offers exposure to cutting-edge technologies and the chance to work alongside experienced professionals in a supportive, growth-oriented environment.

You will become an integral part of our production support team, ensuring the highest standards of product architecture that meet and exceed client requirements. This role requires a blend of technical expertise, problem-solving abilities, and strong communication skills to collaborate effectively with data providers and cross-functional teams.

Key Responsibilities

  • Data Pipeline Management: Monitor and maintain all aspects of our data engineering pipeline and various container-based services, utilizing UIs, SQL, PL/SQL, Python, and Shell scripting. Manage code through GitHub and deployment via Jenkins to ensure seamless operations.

  • Production Support: Serve as a vital member of our production support team, ensuring the highest standards of product design that align with client requirements and business objectives.

  • Testing and Debugging: Test and troubleshoot data pipelines using both test and live client data. Employ Jenkins, Python, and Java to automate testing processes. Analyze logs to determine appropriate next steps and implement effective solutions.

  • Monitoring and Analysis: Utilize dashboards for Kubernetes/OpenShift to analyze high-level issues, identify root causes, and ensure services remain reliable and performant.

  • Performance Optimization: Support performance tracking and monitoring post-deployment. Collaborate with the performance team to implement necessary adjustments and improvements.

  • Requirements Clarification: Work closely with data providers to clarify requirements, remove obstacles, and ensure smooth data flow between systems.

  • Process Automation: Drive automation into routine activities to improve efficiency, reduce manual effort, and enhance overall team productivity.

  • Additional Duties: May perform other work duties as directed by the Employee's Supervisors, contributing to team success and organizational goals.

Essential Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related technical field.

  • Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of the practical application of engineering science and technology, including applying principles, techniques, procedures, and equipment to the design and production of various goods and services.

  • Design Proficiency: Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principles involved in the production of precision technical plans, drawings, and models.

  • Analytical Reasoning: Ability to use logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to complex problems.

  • Problem Anticipation: Capacity to recognize when something is wrong or is likely to go wrong. This involves identifying issues rather than necessarily solving them, but recognizing their existence early.

  • Information Synthesis: Ability to combine pieces of information to form general rules or conclusions, including finding relationships among seemingly unrelated events.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Hands-on experience with cloud platforms and containerization technologies such as Kubernetes and OpenShift.

  • Proficiency in database management systems, including SQL and PL/SQL.

  • Experience with programming languages such as Python and Java for automation and data processing.

  • Familiarity with CI/CD tools like Jenkins for automated testing and deployment.

  • Understanding of version control systems, particularly GitHub.

  • Basic knowledge of log analysis and troubleshooting techniques.

  • Previous experience in a production support or data engineering role is highly desirable.

Required Skills and Competencies

  • Complex Problem Solving: Skilled in identifying complex issues and reviewing related information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions effectively.

  • Information Integration: Ability to see new information for both current and future problem-solving and decision-making processes.

  • Attention to Detail: Strong ability to identify or recognize known patterns (figures, objects, words, or sounds) hidden in distracting material.

  • Multitasking and Adaptability: Capacity to move back and forth between two or more activities or sources of information (such as speech, sounds, touch, or other sources) efficiently.

  • Organizational Skills: Ability to organize things or activities in a particular order or pattern according to a specific rule or set of rules (e.g., patterns of numbers, letters, words, images, or mathematical operations).

  • Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills to collaborate with team members and stakeholders effectively.

  • Initiative: Proactive approach to identifying improvements and driving automation in daily activities.
