Associate Transmission Line Engineer

Leidos is a trusted technology-focused solutions provider looking for an Associate Transmission Line Engineer to join their team. The role involves providing technical and project support for high voltage transmission line projects and includes design and planning efforts related to power transmission and distribution facilities.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical and project support for high voltage transmission line projects
• Provide technical and project support for low voltage distribution projects
• Responsible for design and planning efforts related to power transmission and distribution physical facilities
• Preparation of drawings specifications and reports to define the scope of work associated with the construction of power transmission and distribution lines
• Prepare or review structure loading drawings
• Prepare environmental permitting drawings
• Prepare right-of-way support drawings
• Prepare transmission line hardware and structure assembly drawings
• Prepare material and equipment specifications
• Prepare line design parameters
• Prepare line routing
• Prepare project budgets
• Prepare schedules and estimates
• Perform analyses in association with large scale transmission and distribution ("T&D") projects
• Provide construction monitoring and field technical support for power transmission and distribution projects
• Design of transmission line systems
• Structural design and load tree development
• Drilled pier and direct embedded foundation design
• Permitting
• Detail drawing development
• Material development
• Construction package development
• Interface with clients
• Provide assistance to Project Managers

Skills

• B.S. in Civil or Mechanical Engineering required
• 0-2 years experience with specific transmission and distribution (T&D) projects
• Demonstrated excellent oral and written communications skills required
• Willingness to travel to project and/or client sites
• Detail oriented
• Engineer-in-Training (EIT) professional certification preferred
• Course studies in power delivery systems preferred
• Course studies in project management preferred
