Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced and strategic Customer Engineering Manager to lead our Client Engineering team in Columbus. This pivotal role bridges the gap between sales, product development, and customer success, ensuring that our clients receive exceptional technical guidance and support throughout their journey with arenaflex.
As the Customer Engineering Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing a team of talented engineers, driving go-to-market strategies, and ensuring that our clients are fully equipped to leverage arenaflex's comprehensive cloud platform. You'll work closely with cross-functional leaders to identify business opportunities, resolve complex technical challenges, and maintain high levels of customer satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities
- Team Leadership & Development: Collaborate with Sales and Client Engineering leadership to determine appropriate staffing levels that support annualized business objectives. Establish work orders, conduct interviews, and build a high-performing team of customer engineering professionals.
- Technical Readiness Assessment: Evaluate the CE team's go-to-market readiness, identify gaps in preparation, and develop comprehensive training plans to ensure the team is fully equipped to support annualized business goals.
- Business Development Support: Partner with the arenaflex Workspace Outreach team to identify, qualify, and prioritize engagement opportunities for business growth. Develop strategic approaches to maximize client engagement and drive revenue.
- Executive Client Engagement: Participate in key account relationships as the primary technical executive, establishing strong connections across client regions and serving as the trusted advisor for strategic initiatives.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work seamlessly with Business Accounts, Customer Success, Product Managers, Client Solutions, and Engineering teams to resolve product issues affecting pre-sales and post-sales customer satisfaction.
- Strategic Planning: Contribute to the development of go-to-market strategies, product roadmap feedback, and customer success frameworks that drive long-term client loyalty and revenue growth.
- Performance Management: Set clear performance metrics, conduct regular team reviews, and implement continuous improvement initiatives to maintain exceptional service standards.
Essential Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field; equivalent practical experience will also be considered.
- Minimum of 4 years of experience as a Technical Sales Engineer Lead or Customer-Facing Engineering Lead in a SaaS, PaaS, or cloud computing environment.
- Demonstrated experience leading Client Design initiatives and managing design engineering teams.
- Strong understanding of cloud computing concepts, including Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS), Platform as a Service (PaaS), and Software as a Service (SaaS) models.
- Proven track record of building and leading high-performing technical teams.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to translate complex technical concepts for non-technical stakeholders.
- Experience working in fast-paced, dynamic environments with evolving priorities.
Preferred Qualifications
- MBA or Graduate degree in Computer Science, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Previous experience serving as a Pre-Sales Engineering Manager, Field Engineering Director, or in a customer-facing Field Engineer role.
- Deep expertise in Platform as a Service (PaaS), Software as a Service (SaaS), Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS), public cloud architectures, and related technical concepts.
- Experience working with enterprise clients across multiple industries.
- Ability to work flexibly across different time zones to support global clients and distributed teams.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a data-driven approach to decision-making.
- Experience with customer relationship management (CRM) and sales enablement tools.
