About the Role
As a Data Engineer specializing in Cyber Security at arenaflex, you will be responsible for designing, building, and maintaining data pipelines that process vast amounts of security-related information. Your work will focus specifically on analyzing consumer activity and logon information to identify cybersecurity anomalies within our existing security data landscape. This position requires a unique blend of technical data engineering skills, cybersecurity domain knowledge, and the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.

Key Responsibilities
- Data Pipeline Development: Design, develop, and maintain scalable data engineering pipelines that process data from multiple sources, including databases, APIs, log files, and real-time data streams. Ensure data quality, integrity, and availability for cybersecurity analytics.
- Schema Design & Optimization: Analyze data warehouse structures across multiple databases and identify opportunities to improve table schemas, data models, and processing efficiency. Optimize queries and data flows to support high-performance analytics.
- Cybersecurity Data Analysis: Examine consumer activity and logon information to detect patterns and anomalies that may indicate security threats. Work with the ML/AI team to develop and refine detection algorithms.
- Business Intelligence & Reporting: Present findings and recommendations for resolving complex data management scenarios. Exercise independent judgment while developing expertise in business data policies, procedures, and compliance requirements.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate and consult with technology colleagues, internal partners, and stakeholders, including internal and external clients as applicable. Communicate technical concepts effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Research & Problem-Solving: Review and analyze business, operational, or technical assignments that require research, analysis, and selection of options. Guide medium-risk deliverables with minimal supervision.
- Documentation & Compliance: Maintain accurate documentation of data pipelines, schemas, and processes. Ensure adherence to data governance policies and regulatory compliance requirements.
Essential Qualifications
- Educational Background: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Data Science, or a related technical field. An equivalent combination of education and relevant work experience may also be considered.
- Professional Experience: Minimum of 2+ years of Data Engineering experience, or equivalent demonstrated through a combination of work experience, training, military experience, or education.
- Technical Proficiency: Strong foundation in data engineering principles, including ETL processes, data warehousing, and database management.
- Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present technical information clearly to various audiences.
- Work Authorization: Must be currently authorized to work for any employer in the United States. This position is not eligible for visa sponsorship, and applicants must not require work visa sponsorship from arenaflex now or in the future to maintain their authorization to work in the United States.
Analytical Skills: Excellent problem-solving abilities with the capacity to analyze complex data challenges and develop effective solutions.
Preferred Qualifications
While the following qualifications are not required, they would significantly strengthen your application and demonstrate your readiness for success in this role:
- Programming Expertise: Minimum of 2 years of Python programming experience, or proficiency in other high-level programming languages such as Java or C#. Experience with Python libraries commonly used in data science and machine learning (pandas, NumPy, scikit-learn) is highly valued.
- Financial Services Background: Minimum of 1 year of Data Analysis experience within the Financial Services industry. Understanding of banking operations, regulatory requirements, and financial data structures is advantageous.
- Cybersecurity Domain Knowledge: Minimum of 1 year of exposure to the Cyber Security field. Familiarity with security frameworks, threat intelligence, incident response, or security operations is beneficial.
- Visualization Tools: Experience working with data visualization tools such as PowerBI, Tableau, Splunk, or similar platforms. Ability to create meaningful visual representations of security data and analytics results.
- Data Pipeline Construction: Proven experience building data engineering pipelines for diverse data sources, including relational databases, NoSQL databases, REST APIs, and streaming data platforms.
- Cloud Platforms: Experience with cloud-based data platforms and services (AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud) is a plus.
