Position Overview

We are looking for an experienced Data Engineer II to join our Ring Data Warehouse team at arenaflex. In this role, you will be responsible for designing, building, and maintaining scalable data pipelines and warehousing solutions that support our growing data ecosystem. You will work closely with business partners across multiple verticals including Subscriptions, Sales, Reverse Operations, Finance, and Product to understand their data requirements and deliver high-quality data solutions.

Key Responsibilities

As a Data Engineer II at arenaflex, you will play a crucial role in our data infrastructure team. Your key responsibilities will include:


  • Requirements Gathering and Analysis: Collaborate with business partners across various departments including Subscriptions, Sales, Reverse Operations, Finance, Product, and more to gather and analyze their data requirements. Ensure that the data being ingested addresses business needs effectively.
  • Data Pipeline Development: Build new data ingestions using a combination of native AWS services and internal arenaflex tools. Design and implement efficient ETL pipelines that can handle large volumes of data while maintaining performance and reliability.
  • Data Warehouse Maintenance: Maintain and improve existing data ingestions, ensuring they meet evolving standards and corporate policies. Optimize existing processes and implement improvements to enhance data quality and accessibility.
  • Tool and System Development: Build, improve, and maintain tools or systems for internal team and external partner use to manage data effectively. Create solutions that simplify data operations and improve productivity.
  • Code Review and Best Practices: Perform code reviews and ensure best practices are followed for ETL and data hygiene by team members and supporting groups. Mentor junior engineers and contribute to knowledge sharing within the team.
  • Technology Adaptation: Learn and adapt quickly to new technologies and business needs. Assemble and improve systems and processes, incorporating new patterns and technologies where appropriate to stay at the forefront of data engineering.
  • Data Quality and Documentation: Ensure data is well-documented and integrated to promote flexible use and good data hygiene across the organization.

About the Ring Data Warehouse Team

The Ring Data Warehouse team at arenaflex manages the centralized data repository for Ring, our innovative home security and automation brand. We acquire and publish data from various internal and external sources, which are used by multiple stakeholders including Ring Product Engineering, Finance, Supply Chain, Marketing, Customer Support, and Sales teams.

Our team is responsible for ensuring data availability, quality, and accessibility across the organization. We work with massive datasets and complex data relationships, providing the foundation for business intelligence, analytics, and machine learning initiatives that drive strategic decisions at arenaflex.

Essential Qualifications

To succeed in this role, you must have:


  • Educational Background: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field. Equivalent work experience will also be considered.
  • Professional Experience: Minimum of 3+ years of data engineering experience with a strong track record of building and maintaining data pipelines and warehousing solutions.
  • Technical Expertise: Extensive experience with data modeling, data warehousing, and building ETL pipelines. Proficiency in SQL is required, with the ability to write complex queries and optimize database performance.
  • Problem-Solving Skills: Ability to work closely with partners to understand their requirements and ensure data solutions address business needs effectively.
  • Adaptability: Capability to learn and adapt quickly to new technologies and business needs, assembling and improving systems and processes as required.

Preferred Qualifications

While not required, the following qualifications will give you a competitive edge:


  • AWS Expertise: Hands-on experience with AWS technologies including Amazon Redshift, S3, AWS Glue, EMR, Kinesis, Firehose, Lambda, and IAM roles and permissions.
  • Programming Skills: Experience with at least one modern programming or scripting language such as Python, Java, Scala, or NodeJS.
  • NoSQL Databases: Experience with non-relational databases and data stores including object storage, document or key-value stores, graph databases, and column family databases.
  • Big Data Technologies: Familiarity with big data processing frameworks and distributed computing concepts.
  • Domain Knowledge: Understanding of home security, IoT, or consumer electronics industries is a plus.
