Perkins&Will is a design firm that emphasizes innovation and excellence in design. They are seeking a Designer I who will assist throughout the design process, contribute creative ideas, and support schematic design and client presentations under supervision.


Responsibilities

  • Provides assistance throughout the design process under routine guidance; contributes to the overall success of the team by adhering to firm and project goals and standards of excellence in design, execution, and living design
  • Supports preparation of creative and innovative design ideas, concepts, and solutions while participating as an integral member of the design team
  • Provides design support under supervision for schematic design, design development, and construction documents
  • Performs product research and assists team with material selections
  • Assists in preparing client presentation materials using design application skills and creative ideas
  • Uses a creative approach to perform tasks and responsibilities on projects in an organized, timely, and consistent way
  • Self-checks work for accuracy, omissions, legibility, and compile data for document compliance in accordance with the Project Delivery Manual
  • Proactively asks questions and expresses curiosity about the world of design and the industry at large
  • Provides support to tasks within project teams (may focus on individual detailed tasks) and studio activities
  • Participates in design reviews, charettes, and pin-ups
  • Keeps open communication within team and with designated team leader
  • Communicates ideas and thoughts in a way that inspires others
  • Assists with coordination among partners and consultants

Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in architecture or related discipline required
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Problem solving skills, attention to detail, and motivation to learn
  • Collaborative and professional work ethic
  • Proficiency in 3D modeling, visualization, and graphic software; Revit strongly preferred
  • Additional proficiencies may include site analysis, preliminary design studies, and field measurements
  • Additional skills should include Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Excel, Lumion, and Rhino
  • LEED GA within 6 months of hire
  • Professional Accreditation in one area of Living Design that interests you: LEED AP with Specialty, BREEAM AP, WELL AP, SITES AP, Passive House Institute Certified Passive House Consultant/Designer CPHC/CPHD, or ILFI Living Future Accreditation
  • Active involvement in AXP, or starting the ARE Process
