About The Team

The Head of Data Analytics position is a key leadership role within our Store Automation and Innovation team. You will be responsible for developing a comprehensive suite of KPIs to measure the effectiveness of our strategic initiatives. This role is central to defining metrics and leading the development of data pipelines and dashboards that distribute these measurements and report progress toward our goals to executive leadership on a regular basis.

This position will be located in Bentonville, Arkansas, and will report to the Senior Director of Store Innovation and Automation. As part of our dynamic team, you will have the opportunity to work with cutting-edge technology and collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders across the organization to drive meaningful business outcomes.

What You'll Do

As the Director of Data Analytics at arenaflex, you will serve as a strategic partner to business leaders, translating complex data into actionable insights that drive organizational growth. Your responsibilities will span across multiple domains, requiring a blend of technical expertise, business acumen, and leadership capabilities.

Data Source Identification and Management: You will be responsible for identifying data sources, requiring deep knowledge of functional business domains and scenarios, categories of data and where it is stored, business data requirements, database technologies, and data quality assurance practices. This involves working closely with data engineers and architects to ensure robust data pipelines.

Business Problem Analysis: Analyze business problems within your area of expertise and question assumptions to help identify root causes. You will be expected to recognize and recommend approaches to solving business issues and set relevant expectations based on established progress guidelines and key performance metrics.

Business Case Evaluation: Evaluate proposed business cases for projects and initiatives, translate business requirements into strategies, and align the team to the business strategy while executing expectations. You will need to demonstrate strong financial acumen and the ability to justify investment in data-driven initiatives.

Data Visualization and Storytelling: Identify and recommend the most suitable visualization tools based on context and define application design according to client requirements. This includes building compelling stories based on context, presenting to and influencing various audiences using appropriate data visualization techniques, and adapting communication style based on stakeholder needs.

Strategic Direction and Planning: Provide overall direction by analyzing business objectives and customer needs. This includes developing, delivering, building support for, and implementing business processes, plans, and practices. You will also be responsible for analyzing costs and estimates and integrating them into business plans while determining and supporting resource requirements.

Community and Stakeholder Engagement: Develop and leverage internal and external networks and organizations, lead strategic community outreach and involvement initiatives, and support stakeholders while respecting and adhering to the company's standards of integrity and ethics.

What You'll Bring

We are looking for a seasoned professional who brings a combination of technical proficiency, business insight, and leadership capabilities. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of driving data-driven decision making across complex organizations.

Required Technical Skills

Proficiency in SQL, Python, and big data tools (e.g., Hive) – you should be comfortable writing complex queries and manipulating large datasets efficiently

Experience with dashboarding tools (e.g., Looker) and scheduling/workflow tools (e.g., Airflow) – demonstrate your ability to create automated reporting solutions

Strong ability to communicate the details of metrics to executives clearly, translating technical concepts into business language

Capacity to connect details of data and their impact on the business, showing the "so what" behind the numbers

Experience developing new metrics to track business impact and measure initiative success

Demonstrated experience leading a team of analysts, providing mentorship and career development guidance

Experience building dashboards and reports that aggregate data from multiple sources, creating unified views of business performance

Preferred Qualifications

Background or education in statistics, mathematics, or related quantitative field

Experience with machine learning and data science techniques, including predictive modeling and statistical analysis

Advanced degree (Master's or PhD) in a relevant field is a plus but not required

Experience in retail, e-commerce, or consumer goods industries

Knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and modern data architecture

Compensation and Benefits

Hourly Rate: $20-30 per hour (commensurate with experience)

Full-Time Position: 8 hours per day, Monday through Friday
