What You'll Do
As a Customer Advocate Phone Specialist, you will be responsible for delivering exceptional customer service through telephone, written communication, and occasionally in-person interactions. Your primary duties will include:
- Customer Care: Identify, research, process, resolve, and respond to customer inquiries and correspondence via telephone, written communication, and in-person interactions. You will serve as the first point of contact for members seeking assistance.
- Member Advocacy: Explain a wide range of information concerning our organization's services, including contract benefits, changes in coverage, eligibility requirements, claims processing, arenaflex programs, provider networks, and more. Your ability to communicate complex information clearly and compassionately is essential.
- High-Volume Call Handling: Answer a diverse and high volume of health insurance-related customer calls and correspondence daily. Our Customer Advocate Phone Specialists typically handle 40 or more calls per day, making this an ideal role for those who thrive in fast-paced environments.
- Performance Excellence: Meet quality, quantity, and timeliness standards to achieve individual and department performance goals as defined within departmental guidelines. Your success will be measured through customer satisfaction scores, call handling efficiency, and accuracy.
- Documentation: Document and record facts regarding inquiries and correspondence by updating arenaflex files and systems. Attention to detail is critical to ensure accurate record-keeping and continuity of care.
- Continuous Learning: Demonstrate and maintain current working knowledge of required arenaflex systems, procedures, forms, and manuals. You will participate in ongoing training to stay current with industry changes and company policies.
- Additional Duties: Perform all other duties as assigned to support the team and organization.

- Starting Pay: Our starting hourly rate is $18.00, with the opportunity to earn more through performance and quality-based incentives and bonuses.
- Bilingual Premium: If you speak Spanish proficiently, you will receive an additional $1 per hour Bilingual Premium, recognizing the value of multilingual communication in serving our diverse member population.

Work Schedule and Training
We understand the importance of work-life balance, which is why we offer predictable scheduling for our Customer Advocate Phone Specialists:
- Shifts: Monday through Friday, between 6:00 AM and 6:00 PM. No weekends or late nights required!
- Training: We provide 9 or more weeks of instructor-led, paid, virtual training to ensure you have the knowledge and skills needed to succeed in this role. Our training program is comprehensive and supportive, making it perfect for both experienced customer service professionals and those new to the health insurance industry.
What We're Looking For
To be successful in this role, you should have:
- Education: High School diploma or equivalent.
- Experience: At least 1 year of external customer service experience. Previous experience in healthcare, insurance, or call center environments is a plus but not required.
- Technical Skills: Intermediate skill in the use of office equipment, including copiers, fax machines, scanners, and telephones. Proficiency in navigating multiple computer systems and software programs.
- Attention to Detail: Strong detail orientation to ensure accuracy in documentation and data entry.
- Confidentiality: Ability to maintain confidentiality and privacy, as you will be handling sensitive member information.
- Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to listen actively and respond empathetically.
- Problem-Solving: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to address customer inquiries effectively.
- Adaptability: Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-volume environment and handle unexpected challenges with professionalism.
