As a Media Replay Operator I – Studio Operations, you will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth execution of live and pre-recorded productions, working closely with our team to deliver exceptional video and audio quality. Your expertise in broadcast hardware and technology, combined with your excellent communication skills, will enable you to provide top-notch support to our colleagues and clients.

  • *Key Responsibilities**
  • Coordinate, record, edit, and playback server-based material during live and pre-recorded productions, adhering to ESPN's high standards for video and audio quality
  • Operate all broadcast equipment and technology within assigned working areas, including association and delivery of all server content used for recording and playback during control room productions
  • Demonstrate a strong understanding of editing strategies on moment replay and non-linear systems
  • Monitor sound and video signals to ensure quality control of ESPN's guidelines on all activities, utilizing extensive knowledge of broadcast strategies
  • May train others in operational areas and, if applicable, create training documentation
  • Participate in training programs, both for self-professional development and regarding any relevant equipment and process changes within the role
  • Show a strong understanding of plant signal flow/steering
  • Participate in special event coverage and projects as needed
  • Perform other duties necessary to achieve business objectives
  • *Required Capabilities**
  • Minimum of 2 years of practical television production or related experience at the major market or organization level
  • Strong knowledge of all television production hardware and technology within assigned working areas, including but not limited to:
  • + Video production switchers+ Server-based recording/playback systems and related control devices+ Television production switches+ Radio systems+ Signal conversion equipment
  • Ability to work late shifts, weekends, and holidays
  • Flexibility to modify shifts/days off and stay at work longer than required to accommodate projects and departmental objectives
  • Capacity to perform tasks under tight deadlines, work independently, and lead concurrent projects
  • Strong understanding of work processes in other specialty units, including their impact and potential integration with Production Tasks
  • Organizational, efficiency, and IT skills are essential for planning abilities
  • Willingness and ability to adapt to a constantly evolving environment
  • Competitors should have a strong computer foundation (Viewpoint, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc...) and excellent interpersonal skills
  • Ability to address and investigate issues using effective communication to best convey any problems requiring resolution
  • Searches out information regarding the work processes of other specialty units, including their impact or potential coordination with Production Tasks, and uses that information to improve processes as well as educate others
  • *Preferred Capabilities**
  • Evident knowledge of broadcast communications equipment
  • Understanding of remote event work processes and terminology
  • Ability to provide exceptional customer service to our partners
  • Bilingual (written and spoken) - English/Spanish

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • *Preferred Education**
  • Four-year degree in Communications, Studio Production, News Broadcasting, or related field
  • Professional School Certificate
