Position Overview

We are currently seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Pharmacy Customer Service Associate to provide outstanding support to our pharmacy operations and deliver a delightful shopping experience to our customers. In this position, you will be responsible for registering sales, processing transactions, assisting customers with product inquiries, and providing support to our pharmacy team under the direct supervision of licensed pharmacists. Key Responsibilities

As a Pharmacy Customer Service Associate at arenaflex, your responsibilities will include:


  • Customer Experience Excellence: Models and delivers a unique and delightful customer experience that sets arenaflex apart from the competition. Engages customers and patients by greeting them warmly and providing assistance with products and services. Resolves customer issues and answers inquiries promptly to ensure an exceptional customer experience.
  • Sales Register Operations: Registers sales on assigned registers, providing clients with courteous, honest, friendly, and efficient checkout service. Collects cash and distributes change as requested; processes voids, returns, rain checks, refunds, and exchanges as needed. Operates the point-of-sale system with accuracy and efficiency.
  • Product Knowledge and Sales: Recommends items for sale to consumers and suggests upsell and partner items to enhance the shopping experience. Assists customers in locating products, particularly in the OTC (over-the-counter) aisle, and provides guidance on product selection based on customer needs.
  • Merchandising and Stock Management: Maintains counters and shelves efficiently and well-merchandised. Takes stock and maintains accurate records. Receives and prices merchandise as required or as directed by the store manager or shift leader. Assists with the separation of food items and product placement as specified by company procedures.
  • Pharmacy Support Functions: In accordance with state and federal guidelines, assists the pharmacist, under direct supervision, within the scope of pharmacy practice. Accountable for the use of pharmacy systems to obtain patient and drug information and process prescriptions.
  • Prescription Processing: Plays responsibilities as assigned by the pharmacy supervisor, staff pharmacist, and store manager, including using pharmacy systems to enter patient and drug records, ensuring information is entered accurately, filling prescriptions by retrieving, counting, and pouring pharmaceutical pills, verifying medication is accurate, and checking for possible drug interactions. Assists pharmacists in scheduling and maintaining workflow.
  • Quality Assurance: Reviews prescription errors immediately and reports them to pharmacists on duty. Adheres to company guidelines and procedures regarding pharmacy errors and quality improvement programs. Reviews and complies with the arenaflex Pharmacy Code of Behavior.
  • Compliance and Documentation: Strictly adheres to the arenaflex Policy regarding good faith dispensing during all applicable prescription dispensing activities. Ensures compliance with state and local laws regarding regulated products such as alcoholic beverages and tobacco products.
  • Claims Processing: Processes (corrects and resubmits) manual claims for third-party program prescription services in a timely and efficient manner. Performs other clerical duties as assigned by the pharmacy manager.
  • Inventory Control: Assists and supports the Pharmacy Department in inventory control activities, including ordering, unpacking, checking, and storing shipments of pharmaceuticals. Maintains knowledge of company asset protection techniques and documents claims for warehouse overages, shortages, order errors, or damaged items concerning prescription medications.
  • Display and Promotion Management: Constructs and maintains displays, including promotional, seasonal, and sale products. Completes resets and revisions as directed by management.
  • Photo Services: Provides customer service in the photo area, including digital passport photo service, poster print, and creative services. Suggestively sells promotional photo products.
  • Online Order Fulfillment: Assumes web pick-up duties, including monitoring orders in the system, filling orders (picking items), and delivering orders to customers as they arrive at the store.
  • Store Maintenance: Assists with outside and interior maintenance by ensuring clean, neat, orderly condition and appearance of the store environment.
  • Team Collaboration: Complies with all company guidelines and processes; maintains respectful and collaborative relationships with coworkers. Fashion and stock customer support best practices with all team members to deliver extraordinary and delightful customer experience, including interpersonal habits such as greeting, eye contact, and courtesy.
  • Additional Duties: Completes special assignments and other tasks as assigned by management.

Essential Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you must meet the following requirements:


  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Certifications: Must obtain and maintain PTCB (Pharmacy Technician Certification Board) certification through the PTCB education program and/or state-required certification/registration as applicable.
  • Customer Service Skills: Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to engage customers in a friendly, professional, and courteous manner. Must possess excellent verbal communication skills and the ability to resolve customer issues effectively.
  • Attention to Detail: Strong attention to detail and accuracy, particularly when processing transactions and handling prescription information.
  • Technical Proficiency: Basic computer skills and the ability to learn and operate store systems and equipment efficiently.
  • Physical Requirements: Ability to stand for extended periods, walk throughout the store, and lift moderate loads (up to 50 pounds) as needed.
  • Availability: Must be able to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, as required by the store operations.
  • Compliance: Ability to adhere to all company policies, state and federal regulations, and pharmacy guidelines.

Preferred Qualifications

While not required, the following qualifications are highly preferred:


  • Previous experience in a retail or pharmacy setting
  • Knowledge of pharmacy operations and terminology
  • Familiarity with point-of-sale systems
