What You'll Do

As a Psychiatric Clinical Pharmacist II at arenaflex, you will be at the forefront of clinical pharmacy services, bringing your expertise in psychotropic medications to drive meaningful outcomes. Your responsibilities will include:


  • Clinical Oversight: Oversee all clinical services related to psychotropic medications, ensuring the highest standards of pharmaceutical care are maintained across all patient interactions and treatment plans.

  • Prescriber Collaboration: Provide expert consultations and evidence-based recommendations to prescribers regarding psychotropic medication therapy, dosage adjustments, drug interactions, and alternative treatment options.

  • Plan Benefit Design: Contribute your expertise to plan benefit design initiatives, utilizing your knowledge of clinical pharmacy and drug products to optimize formulary management, prior authorization processes, and cost-effective therapeutic strategies.

  • Drug Utilization Review: Conduct both prospective (PRO) and retrospective (RETRO) Drug Utilization Reviews (DUR) to evaluate medication therapy patterns, identify potential issues, and implement corrective actions to improve patient safety and therapeutic outcomes.

  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure 100% dedication to contract requirements and maintain compliance with all regulatory standards, including state pharmacy board regulations and organizational policies.

  • Facility Collaboration: Work closely with our contractor's local facility to integrate clinical pharmacy services seamlessly into existing healthcare workflows and ensure optimal patient care coordination.

  • Documentation: Maintain accurate and comprehensive documentation of all clinical interventions, consultations, and recommendations in accordance with professional standards and organizational requirements.

  • Quality Improvement: Participate in quality improvement initiatives and contribute to the development of clinical protocols, guidelines, and best practices for psychiatric pharmaceutical care.

What You'll Bring

We are seeking a highly qualified professional who brings a combination of specialized training, clinical expertise, and a commitment to excellence in psychiatric pharmacy. The ideal candidate will possess:

Essential Qualifications:


  • Educational Background: Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree from an accredited pharmacy program.

  • Licensure: Current active Pharmacist license in Maryland (or ability to acquire within 6 months of system implementation).

  • Board Certification: Board Certified Psychiatric Pharmacist (BCPP) certification is Required for this position, demonstrating specialized expertise in psychiatric pharmacy practice.

  • Experience: Minimum of three (3) years of experience supporting formulary management, prior authorization (PA), benefits design, and clinical information services.

  • Specialized Training: Documented specialized training in psychotropic medications, including but not limited to antidepressants, antipsychotics, mood stabilizers, anxiolytics, and medications for attention and cognitive disorders.

  • Drug Utilization Review Experience: Previous experience in both Prospective (PRO) and Retrospective (RETRO) Drug Utilization Review (DUR) processes.

  • Clinical Knowledge: In-depth knowledge of clinical pharmacy principles and comprehensive drug product information to effectively support plan benefit design and clinical decision-making.

Preferred Qualifications:


  • Experience working in managed care or healthcare consulting environments.

  • Familiarity with Medicare Part D and Medicaid pharmacy benefits.

  • Advanced training in pharmacogenomics and personalized medicine.

  • Experience with electronic health records (EHR) and pharmacy management systems.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret clinical data and trends.
