Missouri Employment / H-1B Attorney Needed to Review Employment Contract Clauses for Enforceability
Posted 2026-05-06We are seeking an experienced U.S. employment attorney, preferably with strong knowledge of Missouri employment law and H-1B compliance, to review a pre-drafted employment contract for our company.
We do not need a contract drafted from scratch. The contract is already prepared. We need a lawyer to carefully review specific clauses and advise whether they are legally enforceable, compliant, and properly structured under Missouri law and applicable federal H-1B regulations.
Scope of work:
- Review our existing employment contract
- Focus specifically on clauses related to:
- at-will employment
- resignation / early departure
- liquidated damages
- recovery of employer losses/costs in case an employee leaves early
- cross-referencing between termination and damages provisions
- Confirm whether these clauses are enforceable under Missouri law
- Confirm whether the contract language is compliant with H-1B-related legal restrictions
- Identify any clause that may be considered a penalty, overbroad, risky, or unenforceable
- Suggest revisions or redlines to strengthen enforceability while keeping the employer protected
- Advise on what language should be removed, revised, or narrowed to reduce legal risk
Important context:
We sponsor employees who are already in the United States through the H-1B process. Our main concern is making sure the contract is structured in a way that is legally sound and does not create problems under Missouri law or federal immigration/employment rules.
The key issue is whether the contract provisions, especially those related to liquidated damages and early voluntary departure, are enforceable and drafted in a way that reasonably protects the employer.
What we need from you:
- Legal review of the contract
- Written comments or redlines
- Clear answer on enforceability under Missouri law
- Practical revision suggestions to improve the clauses
- Preference for someone who has handled employment agreements involving H-1B workers or similar immigration-related employment matters
Preferred qualifications:
- U.S.-licensed attorney
- Strong background in Missouri employment law
- Experience with H-1B compliance
- Experience reviewing enforceability of liquidated damages, repayment, or early departure clauses
To apply, please mention:
- Your licensing state(s)
- Your experience with Missouri employment contracts
- Your experience with H-1B-related employment agreement review
- Whether you can review and return comments/redlines quickly
