Position Overview
We are currently seeking an experienced Manager, Data Analytics to lead our music analytics initiatives. This part-time, remote-friendly position offers competitive compensation at $18/hour and provides the flexibility to work from our Burbank headquarters or remotely, depending on your location and preferences.
As the Supervisor, Information Investigation for arenaflex Music Group, you will serve as the primary data analysis partner to cross-functional teams, providing actionable insights that inform planning and decision-making across all business areas. You will develop a deep understanding of consumer behaviors within music marketing, discovery, and usage channels, translating complex data into compelling narratives that drive business results.
This role is perfect for someone who has a deep curiosity and aptitude for data, with applied knowledge of measurement and statistics. You will be expected to translate business questions into analytical and technical approaches, driving results through analysis of massive transaction-level datasets. The ideal candidate will communicate effectively, refining insights into brief and compelling data-driven stories, and socializing broadly with audiences across levels and functions.
Key Responsibilities
- Drive analytical approaches to complex business problems through data creation, analysis, and statistical modeling. Develop new features incorporating data across internal and external data sources. Build and apply classification, regression, and clustering models to derive insights.
- Contribute to strategic initiatives and new business opportunities by developing analytical models and frameworks to understand potential, performance drivers, and the impact of environmental factors.
- Support data-informed business processes by applying data mining, quantitative analysis, and data presentation to surface and elevate key topics, addressing business questions across varied business areas.
- Extract and develop data for analysis. Secure, organize, scrub, and control complex, large-scale data from various distinct sources using tools such as PySpark and advanced SQL to interact with the data.
- Apply supervised or unsupervised learning techniques such as linear and logistic regression, decision trees, or k-means clustering to derive, validate, and measure conclusions from the data.
- Partner with cross-functional stakeholders to identify opportunities and understand performance, diving into data to drive meaningful and actionable insights.
- Contribute to organizational needs through ongoing reporting and analysis to inform business, product, marketing, and sales decisions.
- Lead content performance and audience analysis for product releases. Develop and track key metrics to measure success.
- Perform statistical analysis including KPI deep dives, behavioral segmentation, and customer journey analysis. Develop analytical pipelines for automated, scalable, repeatable, and coordinated analysis using modern big data patterns in data ecosystems such as Databricks, Snowflake, and Google BigQuery.
- Collaborate with Engineering and Product teams to execute on data projects. Contribute to policy discovery, design, build, and QA processes. Work collaboratively on data models, database structure/tables, ETL/ELT data pipelines, and validation parameters.
- Lead and mentor a team member, establishing priorities to maximize impact within the organization.
Required Qualifications
Education
- Bachelor's degree in an analytical field including Statistics, Mathematics, Physics, Computer Science, Engineering, or other related quantitative field
- Graduate degree in a similar field (preferred)
Experience
- 3+ years of data analysis experience
- 3+ years of management experience
- Experience developing statistical models and analyses in an industry setting for business use cases
- Applied knowledge of supervised and unsupervised learning techniques
- Experience controlling large, transaction-level datasets and interpreting data trends from multiple dissimilar data sources
- Experience working with media performance data
- Experience working with data in the music/entertainment industry
Technical Skills
- Strong hands-on experience developing advanced analytical solutions using scripting tools (Python/R)
- Proficiency in advanced SQL, large-scale data, and numerical computing languages (PySpark)
- Experience with data mining in distributed systems (Spark/Databricks)
- Proficiency in data analysis and visualization tools (Tableau/Looker)
- Experience developing analytical software that scales analyses
