What You'll Experience in Our Program

The courses, learning activities, and resources provided to you in our pharmacy technician training program are designed to offer you both foundational and advanced knowledge, skills, and on-the-job experiences you need to prepare to become a licensed pharmacy technician. Through completion of the arenaflex pharmacy technician apprenticeship program, your experience qualifies for 8 (8) university credit hours as recognized by the American Council on Education (ACE). This coursework is recommended for 3 semester hours at the lower-division baccalaureate/associate degree category and 5 semester hours in the upper-division baccalaureate degree category for a total of 8 semester hours—giving you a head start on further education if you choose to pursue it.

Key Responsibilities

As a Pharmacy Technician at arenaflex, you will play a vital role in our pharmacy operations. Here's what you can expect:


  • Pharmacy Operations: Assist the pharmacist, under direct supervision, in the practice of pharmacy in accordance with state, federal, and company policy. Assist in the overall performance of other Pharmacy department responsibilities according to employer policies and procedures.
  • System Utilization: Responsible for using pharmacy systems to obtain patient and drug information and process prescriptions accurately. If PTCB certified, assist with and coach pharmacy technicians in the operation of pharmacy systems and cashiers in the operation of the pharmacy cash registers.
  • Prescription Processing: Perform duties as assigned by the Pharmacy Manager, Staff Pharmacist, and Store Supervisor, including utilizing pharmacy systems to enter patient and drug records, ensuring information is entered correctly, filling prescriptions by retrieving, counting, and pouring pharmaceutical tablets, verifying medication is accurate, and checking for possible interactions.
  • Quality Assurance: Report, immediately, prescription errors to the pharmacist on duty and adhere to company rules and procedures related to pharmacy errors and the quality improvement program. Strictly adhere to the arenaflex Policy regarding good faith dispensing during all applicable prescription dispensing activities.
  • Financial Management: Be accountable and responsible for registering all related income on assigned cash register, collecting and handling cash as required. Take customers to OTC aisles when possible to help find products.
  • Communication: Handle telephone calls that don't require personal attention of the pharmacist, including those to physicians. Process (corrects and resubmits) manual claims for third-party prescription program services in a timely and efficient manner, and perform other clerical duties as assigned by the Pharmacy Manager.
  • Inventory Management: Assist and support Pharmacy department stock management activities, including ordering, unpacking, checking, and storing shipments of prescription drugs. Maintain knowledge of company asset protection techniques and document claims for warehouse overages, shortages, order errors, or damaged goods related to Rx pharmaceuticals.
  • Clinical Services Support: May assist pharmacists in administering medical services such as the collection and proper labeling of blood/urine samples from patients and other medical services as required. Assist pharmacy staff in coordination of clinical services, arenaflex healthcare clinics, and external vendors.
  • Community Relations: Assist Pharmacy Manager and Staff Pharmacist in developing and maintaining good relationships with the local medical community, including physicians, nurses, and other healthcare providers, through medical provider detailing and outreach to health agencies, retirement homes, nursing homes, and other forums for enhancing growth opportunities.
  • Facility Maintenance: Assist with outside and inside maintenance by ensuring the pharmacy department is stocked with adequate supplies, clean, neat, and orderly in condition and appearance.
  • Compliance: Comply with all company policies and procedures; maintain respectful relationships with coworkers. Complete special assignments and other responsibilities as assigned.

  • Attend training and complete PPLs requested by your manager

  • Maintain knowledge and skill in healthcare and pharmacy, including the latest information and developments

Qualifications We're Looking For

Basic Requirements:

  • Must be fluent in reading, writing, and speaking English (except in Puerto Rico)
  • Must be 18 years of age or older
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Ability to work flexible schedules, including evenings, weekends, and holidays
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Six months of experience in a retail environment
  • Previous work experience with arenaflex or in the pharmacy sector
  • Good math skills to fill prescriptions accurately, including counting, measuring, and weighing medicines
  • Good computer skills
  • Knowledge of store inventory control
  • PTCB certification (or willingness to obtain)
