The UW School of Medicine and Public Health is engaged in high-level biomedical research and is seeking a Post Award Accountant. This role is critical for supporting the Department of Biomolecular Chemistry by ensuring accurate financial reporting and assisting faculty with managing research funding.


Responsibilities

  • Audits and approves subaward invoices
  • Prepares and processes financial reporting and/or invoicing information
  • Provides expertise and advice related to procurement and allowable charges
  • Advises departments or researchers on appropriate post-award modifications
  • Reviews financial expenditures for accuracy on sponsored grants and contracts
  • Assists principal investigators with financial management of sponsored program budgets and directs day-to-day fiscal transactions
  • Serves as subject matter expert to leadership, staff, and institutional stakeholders regarding sponsored programs accounting and financial operations, policies and procedures

Skills

  • Minimum of one year of experience in sponsored grant financial management, post-award accounting, and compliance with higher education, government, or other highly regulated environments
  • Knowledge of federal award compliance requirements and sponsor terms and conditions
  • Understanding of the full award life cycle, including expenditure monitoring, annual progress reporting, and closeout procedures
  • Demonstrated experience using Workday for financial reporting
  • Experience managing complex awards and subawards
  • Experience with UW transactions and policies is strongly preferred
  • Associate Degree preferred; focus in business, finance or accounting
