The Role: Principal Engineer (DevOps Data Platform)

We're looking for a visionary Principal Engineer who will serve as a Technical Expert and Individual Contributor, responsible for driving organizational transformation in DevOps tooling, practices, and culture. In this senior individual contributor role, you'll be instrumental in shaping how arenaflex builds, deploys, and operates its data infrastructure at scale.

You'll work closely with cross-functional teams to define enterprise-wide requirements and ensure adoption of best practices across areas including observability, scalability, availability, security, and cost efficiency. This is a high-impact role that requires both deep technical expertise and strong leadership capabilities to influence and inspire teams across the organization.

Key Responsibilities

As a Principal DevOps Engineer at arenaflex, you will:

Lead DevOps Strategy Development: Design and execute comprehensive DevOps strategies covering the planning, development of tools, practices, and cultural transformation initiatives across the organization.

Establish Best Practices: Define and enforce DevOps best practices including version control, code review, automated testing, and deployment methodologies to ensure consistency and quality across all teams.

Infrastructure as Code: Architect and manage infrastructure using modern IaC tools such as Terraform and Ansible to provision and manage resources efficiently across cloud environments.

CI/CD Pipeline Management: Implement and maintain robust CI/CD pipelines using tools like Jenkins and CircleCI, ensuring rapid and reliable application deployment while maintaining high quality standards.

Security and Compliance: Collaborate with security and compliance teams to ensure all teams adhere to industry best practices and regulatory requirements, incorporating security into every stage of the development lifecycle.

Performance Optimization: Monitor and analyze DevOps pipelines and practices, identifying areas for improvement, optimization, and automation to enhance release consistency and accuracy.

Technology Innovation: Stay current with emerging data technologies, trends, and best practices, evaluating and recommending their adoption within arenaflex's DevOps ecosystem.

Required Qualifications

To succeed in this role, you'll need:

Educational Background: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field. Equivalent professional experience will also be considered.

Cloud Platform Expertise: Hands-on experience working with public cloud environments, with preferred expertise in Google Cloud Platform (GCP), Microsoft Azure, or Amazon Web Services (AWS).

Containerization Technologies: Strong proficiency with containerization technologies including Docker and Kubernetes for container orchestration and management.

Infrastructure as Code: Demonstrated capability in Infrastructure as Code concepts and tools, specifically Terraform and Ansible, for automating resource provisioning and deployment.

CI/CD Implementation: Active involvement in CI/CD pipeline tools such as Jenkins or CircleCI, combined with experience using version control systems like Git.

Programming Skills: Strong scripting abilities in languages such as Python, Bash, or similar programming languages to automate processes and build tooling.

Problem-Solving Abilities: Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the capacity to analyze complex DevOps platform issues and develop effective, innovative solutions.
