Remote Senior Python Engineer

Job Description

The Senior Backend Software engineer is responsible for creating and maintaining the web API backend for O2Xs digital products. The FastAPI-based microservice backend will implement all of the server-side business logic for O2Xs products and through ORM tooling will be responsible for production databases. This role will be additionally responsible for build and deployment of the FastAPI microservices on the AWS cloud platform using GitLab CI/CD.

Key Responsibilities:

• Delivering quality microservices to support the O2X digital products.

• Leading by example in self-documenting code and implementing standards to create an accessible SDLC and development environment.

• Developing and operating (DevOps) with a containerized hosting platform on AWS.

• Helping the team develop new coding practices centered around AI coding agents.

• Participating in feature development discussions and assisting with work prioritization.

• Pushing innovative ideas for small software shop development practices.

Skills and Requirements

• Extensive experience writing web APIs using FastAPI.

• Experience with web security best practices.

• Experience with Python ORM tools such as SQLAlchemy using Postgres.

• Experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines in a cloud environment.

• Experience using AI coding agents (e.g. Cursor, Claude Code, Roo Code, etc)

• Able to work during normal business hours in US Eastern Time.

• Strong verbal and written communication skills in English. -Experience with secure application containerization using Docker.

• Experience deploying containerized applications in Kubernetes.

• Experience with application deployment in a cloud environment such as AWS null
