Remote Senior Skincare Formulation Chemist

Our client, a rapidly growing direct-to-consumer beauty brand specializing in premium skincare, is seeking a talented and experienced Senior Skincare Formulation Chemist to join their innovative product development team. This is a fully remote position, allowing you to contribute your expertise from anywhere. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of cosmetic chemistry, a passion for creating effective and luxurious skincare products, and a proven track record in formulating a wide range of skincare categories, including serums, moisturizers, cleansers, and masks. You will be instrumental in translating market trends and consumer needs into scientifically sound and commercially viable formulations.

Key Responsibilities: Develop innovative and effective skincare formulations from concept to final product, ensuring stability, safety, and performance. Conduct extensive research on new ingredients, technologies, and market trends to drive product innovation. Perform benchtop formulation work, including ingredient screening, formulation optimization, and compatibility studies. Develop and execute stability testing protocols and interpret results to ensure product longevity and efficacy. Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including R&D, marketing, regulatory affairs, and manufacturing, to ensure successful product launches. Troubleshoot formulation challenges and identify solutions to improve product performance and manufacturability. Prepare detailed formulation documentation, including ingredient lists, manufacturing procedures, and quality control specifications. Stay up-to-date with global cosmetic regulations and ensure all formulations meet compliance requirements. Evaluate and select raw materials from suppliers, considering quality, cost, and performance. Contribute to the development of intellectual property and innovative solutions. Present formulation strategies and project updates to internal stakeholders. Qualifications: Master's or Ph.D. in Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, Cosmetic Science, or a related field. Minimum of 6 years of hands-on experience in cosmetic formulation, with a strong focus on skincare products. In-depth knowledge of cosmetic ingredients, their functions, benefits, and regulatory status. Experience with various skincare product types (e.g., emulsions, serums, actives-based treatments). Proficiency in stability testing, analytical techniques (e.g., HPLC, GC), and basic microbiology principles. Excellent understanding of global cosmetic regulations (e.g., FDA, EU Cosmetics Regulation). Strong problem-solving skills and a creative approach to formulation development. Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail. Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously in a remote setting. Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to articulate technical concepts clearly. Proficiency with relevant software, including formulation databases and Microsoft Office Suite.
