This position is a member of the Engineering Group within the Integrated Operations Division. As a Senior Aircraft Maintenance Engineer at arenaflex, you'll be responsible for providing comprehensive engineering support to the maintenance and operation of aircraft and related equipment. What You'll Do
As a Senior Aircraft Maintenance Engineer, you will play a critical role in ensuring the airworthiness and operational readiness of our fleet. Your daily responsibilities will encompass a wide range of technical and leadership activities:
- Training and Mentorship: Conduct specialized training sessions for Engineers in your area(s) of expertise. Serve as a mentor to other Engineers, sharing your knowledge and helping them develop their technical capabilities. Foster a culture of continuous learning and professional growth within the engineering team.
- Leadership and Project Management: Serve as team leader or facilitator for project management initiatives and issue resolution efforts. Coordinate cross-functional teams to address complex technical challenges and ensure timely completion of engineering projects.
- Regulatory Compliance and Documentation: Interface with manufacturers and regulatory authorities as required, ensuring that Engineering procedures are properly validated according to applicable regulations and Company manuals. Maintain meticulous records of all engineering activities and ensure compliance with FAA, EASA, and other applicable aviation authorities.
- Procedure Development: Develop customized methods and special instructions for repairs, modifications, inspections, adjustments, and other maintenance activities that are not adequately addressed in existing manuals. Create innovative solutions to unique technical challenges that arise during aircraft maintenance operations.
- Operational Support: Stay informed about daily airline operations within your field of responsibility. Review daily needs according to aircraft and departmental objectives and management directives. Monitor operational metrics and proactively address potential issues before they impact flight operations.
- Root Cause Analysis: Analyze aircraft and component issues that may cause flight delays or cancellations, significant expenditures in labor or materials, or breaks in maintenance activities. Determine appropriate corrective actions and implement preventive measures to avoid recurrence.
- Technical Assistance: Provide Engineering support as needed to address discrepant situations affecting aircraft or parts to restore operational status. Respond promptly to requests from Maintenance and other airline departments when technical assistance is needed to support operations or resolve issues.
- Strategic Planning: Develop action plans for fleet and multi-fleet and component engineering projects and pursue detailed resolutions according to assessed needs. Work with planning teams to ensure that engineering resources are allocated efficiently and effectively.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Coordinate with other airline departments, as needed, to facilitate effective and efficient execution of Engineering procedures. Collaborate with Operations, Maintenance, Quality Assurance, and Safety teams to ensure seamless integration of engineering solutions into daily operations.
- Technical Documentation: Prepare Engineering documents to implement technical procedures by providing customized methods for repairs, modifications, inspections, or other maintenance activities that provide benefits according to aircraft and departmental objectives and management mandates.
- Regulatory Awareness: Maintain knowledge of current and upcoming regulations that affect areas of responsibility and ensure that all Engineering activities maintain compliance with applicable regulatory requirements. Stay ahead of regulatory changes and proactively adapt engineering practices to meet new requirements.
- Continuous Improvement: Use available resources to increase levels of technical expertise and practical experience on an ongoing basis. Also endeavor to improve communication skills, time management, and other personal attributes relevant to maximum effectiveness and efficiency in performing assigned duties.
- Team Engagement: Actively engage with front-line colleagues and management to build strong working relationships and ensure that engineering support aligns with operational needs. Participate in cross-functional meetings and contribute to overall team success.
What You'll Need for Success
Minimum Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Engineering field or related Engineering license. Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered for candidates with exceptional technical backgrounds.
- Experience: Minimum of 1 year of engineering experience in a related field, or 2 years of experience without a degree. Previous experience in aviation maintenance, aircraft manufacturing, or related technical fields is highly preferred.
- Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of aircraft systems, maintenance procedures, and aviation regulatory requirements. Familiarity with FAA regulations, particularly Part 43 and Part 145, is essential.
Required Skills, Licenses, and Certifications
- Professional Certification: A&P (Airframe and Powerplant) license is required. This demonstrates your foundational knowledge of aircraft maintenance principles and practices.
- Technical Proficiency: Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint. Ability to create detailed technical documents, analyze data, and communicate effectively through written reports and presentations.
- Analytical Abilities: Strong ability to analyze technical data and make information-driven decisions. Capable of interpreting complex technical information, identifying trends, and developing solutions to technical challenges.
- Adaptability: Demonstrates aptitude, ability, and willingness to take on new roles and responsibilities. Must be comfortable working in a dynamic environment with changing priorities and requirements.
- Communication Skills: Ability to prepare and deliver presentations that advance acceptance of proposed solutions. Must be able to communicate effectively with technical and non-technical audiences, including senior management, maintenance personnel, and regulatory inspectors.
- Interpersonal Skills: Ability to connect with internal and external clients effectively. Strong collaboration skills and the ability to work harmoniously with diverse teams across multiple departments.
- Problem-Solving: Excellent troubleshooting skills with the ability to quickly identify root causes and develop effective corrective actions. Must be able to work under pressure and make sound decisions in time-sensitive situations.
- Attention to Detail: Meticulous attention to detail is essential for ensuring accuracy in technical documentation and compliance with regulatory requirements.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in airline engineering or aircraft maintenance engineering roles
- Familiarity with specific aircraft types in our fleet
- Experience with aircraft reliability programs and statistical analysis
- Knowledge of airline operational systems and processes
- Six Sigma or Lean manufacturing certification
- Experience with technical manual development and revision
