What You'll Do: Key Responsibilities
As a Senior Data Scientist at arenaflex, you will be responsible for applying sophisticated advanced data science, predictive analytics, and machine learning methodologies to provide insights and actionable recommendations. Your work will directly influence business decisions and program improvements across the organization.
Model Development & Innovation
- Build robust models and cutting-edge tools using deep technical expertise in machine learning, statistical modeling, probability theory, decision science, and other advanced quantitative methods
- Innovate continuously by adapting to new modeling techniques, emerging methodologies, and evolving best practices in the data science field
- Develop algorithms including decision trees, regression models, XGBoost, K-means clustering, and anomaly detection systems
- Apply interpretable machine learning techniques and Bayesian statistical theory to ensure model transparency and reliability
Data Analysis & Insights
- Understand the business context behind large datasets and translate complex data into meaningful analytic solutions that drive strategic decisions
- Apply rigorous analytical approaches and advanced statistical techniques to analyze massive volumes of data
- Utilize predictive statistical modeling, customer profiling, segmentation analysis, survey design, and data mining methodologies
- Perform data retrieval, complexity analysis, and scientific computing to extract actionable insights
Technical Implementation
- Program using our tech stack including Python, PySpark, Matplotlib, TensorFlow, and PyTorch
- Implement machine learning techniques and both supervised and unsupervised algorithms to build predictive models and prescriptive solutions
- Utilize cloud computing platforms such as Azure and Databricks, with expertise in querying Snowflake data warehouses
- Work with software tools and methodologies including GitHub, continuous integration and continuous delivery (CI/CD), and agile development frameworks
Collaboration & Communication
- Partner with finance, researchers, software developers, and business leaders to define product requirements and provide analytical support
- Communicate verbally and in writing to business clients and management teams with varying levels of technical expertise
- Educate stakeholders about our systems while sharing insights and strategic recommendations
- Advocate for data-driven approaches and translate technical solutions for non-technical audiences
What We're Looking For: Qualifications
Essential Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Physics, Information Systems, or a related STEM field, plus a minimum of 4 years of experience in data science, machine learning, or quantitative analytics; OR High School Diploma/GED with a minimum of 7 years of relevant experience
- Advanced Degree: Master's degree in STEM, Computer Science, Statistics, Physics, Mathematics, Data Science, Machine Learning, or a similar discipline
- Experience: At least 4 years of experience working with large-scale, complex datasets to create and optimize machine learning, predictive, forecasting, and/or optimization models
- Technical Skills: Advanced proficiency in SQL, Python, PySpark, or other programming languages
- Analytical Expertise: Advanced level skill in exploratory data analysis, feature engineering and selection, pattern detection, distribution analysis, results visualization, and extracting insights to support informed data-driven business decisions
Required Technical Competencies
- Experience with decision trees and building classifiers
- Expertise in supervised learning techniques including linear and logistic regression, time series modeling, generalized linear models, decision trees, and support vector machines
- Proficiency in unsupervised learning techniques such as K-means, hierarchical clustering, association rules, and principal component analysis
- Experience with cloud ML systems, distributed computing, data pipelines, cloud data stores, and serving engines
- Experience designing and analyzing A/B experiments
- Advanced ability to convey rigorous technical standards and concepts to non-expert audiences
Professional Attributes
- Experience working in dynamic environments and navigating ambiguity while prioritizing needs and delivering results
- Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate technical solutions and advocate for data-driven approaches to data scientists, engineering teams, and business audiences
- At least 2 years of experience contributing to financial decisions within the organization
- At least 2 years of direct leadership, indirect management, and/or cross-functional team management experience
- Willingness to travel up to 10% of the time for business purposes (domestic and international)
Preferred Qualifications
- Ph.D. in STEM, Computer Science, Statistics, Physics, Mathematics, Data Science, Machine Learning, or a similar discipline
- Experience working with IoT (Internet of Things) and Edge AI technologies
- Experience in Reinforcement Learning
