Position Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Manufacturing Operations Engineer to join our Hardware Manufacturing Operations team. In this critical role, you will be responsible for evaluating product designs and creating the processes, tools, and procedures that bring arenaflex's cutting-edge computing technology to life. You will be the guardian of manufacturing excellence, working closely with design engineers, product managers, and our global supply chain partners to ensure that our products are manufactured with precision, quality, and efficiency.
This position requires a unique blend of technical expertise, leadership capabilities, and hands-on manufacturing experience. You will be responsible for ensuring manufacturing processes are repeatable and controlled, driving yield improvements, and maintaining the highest quality standards throughout the product lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
- Design for Excellence (DFX) Leadership: Lead cross-functional reviews between Design and Operations Engineering to drive requirements essential to executing Design for Excellence (DFX) and comprehensive test strategies for new hardware products.
- Manufacturing Line Excellence: Ensure plant availability and support manufacturing line ramp-up activities. Provide expert product troubleshooting training and gather critical feedback on build issues to drive continuous improvement.
- Quality Analysis & Improvement: Manage the non-conformance (NCM) queue and drive yield span analysis to identify root causes and implement effective corrective actions that improve overall product quality.
- Risk Management & Mitigation: Collaborate closely with the Product team to identify potential risks and develop comprehensive mitigation plans. Work on-site with suppliers up to 5 days per week as needed.
- Quality Standards Development: Partner with Quality Engineers to establish product quality and reliability targets. Approve product capability plans, support reliability testing programs, and review results to ensure product performance meets or exceeds requirements.
- New Product Introduction: Coordinate the release of New Product Introduction (NPI) Bill of Materials (BOMs) into Product Data Management (PDM) systems with precision and attention to detail.
- Supplier Management: Support second-source part capability initiatives and manage the release of Engineering Change Orders (ECOs) and Manufacturing Change Orders (MCOs) to ensure supply chain resilience and flexibility.
- Supplier Collaboration: Travel to work on-site with suppliers and provide remote support for pre-production builds, ensuring seamless coordination between arenaflex and our manufacturing partners.
Essential Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related technical field. Equivalent practical experience will also be considered.
- Industry Experience: Minimum 3 years of experience in an organization developing supply chains for manufacturing and testing of complex electronic hardware products.
- Supply Chain Expertise: Proven experience working with Original Design Manufacturers (ODMs), Contract Manufacturers (CMs), and component suppliers for data center server-type products or similar high-complexity hardware.
- Technical Proficiency: Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, test engineering, and quality control methodologies for electronic assemblies.
- Analytical Skills: Demonstrated ability to analyze manufacturing data, identify trends, and implement corrective actions to improve yield and quality.
- Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across cross-functional teams and with external partners.
Preferred Qualifications
- Advanced experience (5+ years) in supply chain development, manufacturing, and testing of complex electronic systems.
- Extensive experience working with Original Design Makers (ODMs), Contract Manufacturers (CMs), and component suppliers specifically for data center-class server accelerator products such as GPUs, FPGAs, or ASICs.
- Proven track record of creating and executing design validation test plans for complex electronic assemblies.
- In-depth understanding of ASIC DFT (Design for Test) and ATE (Automatic Test Equipment) test processes, as well as post-silicon validation methodologies.
- Strong technical background in SQL querying and scripting using Python or Bash.
- Experience with Product Data Management (PDM) systems and BOM management.
- Knowledge of reliability testing standards and failure analysis techniques.
- Familiarity with Six Sigma or Lean Manufacturing principles.
Technical Skills & Competencies
- Manufacturing Engineering: Deep knowledge of manufacturing processes, test engineering, and production ramp methodologies for complex electronic hardware.
- Quality Management: Understanding of quality management systems, statistical process control, and failure analysis.
- Data Analysis: Proficiency in analyzing manufacturing data using SQL, Python, or similar tools to drive informed decision-making.
- Supply Chain Management: Knowledge of supplier management, procurement processes, and global supply chain operations.
- Project Management: Strong organizational and project management skills to handle multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Technical Documentation: Ability to create clear, comprehensive technical documentation and procedures.
