Structural Engineer-Glovebox

Job Title: Glovebox & Structural Design Engineer — DOE Nuclear

Location: REMOTE WORK

Summary:
• Fully remote position supporting glovebox and structural design on DOE nuclear projects
• Work may span national laboratory programs, nuclear materials handling, and full design lifecycle from concept through installation
• Pay rate is open and negotiated based on experience — we prioritize finding the right person
• U.S. citizenship required for DOE clearance eligibility

Required Qualifications:

Education & Experience
• B.S. or M.S. in mechanical or structural engineering (or related field)
• Experience designing gloveboxes or nuclear material handling enclosures
• Familiarity with DOE Order 420.1, 10 CFR 830, or similar nuclear safety standards

Technical Skills
• Structural analysis via hand calculations and/or FEA (ANSYS, ABAQUS, SAP2000)
• 3D CAD proficiency — SolidWorks, CATIA, or Inventor preferred
• Seismic qualification per DOE-STD-1020 or equivalent
• Ability to produce design calculations, drawings, and documentation packages

Clearance
• Ability to obtain or hold a DOE Q or L security clearance

Preferred:
• PE license or active progress toward licensure
• Prior work at a DOE site — LANL, LLNL, SRS, INL, NNSS, or similar
• Nuclear criticality safety knowledge
• Confinement ventilation and HEPA filtration familiarity
• ASME B&PV Code, AISC, or AWS welding standards in nuclear environments
