VP and Corporate Controller - US Remote

We are looking for a stellar VP & Corporate Controller to join our team! Reporting to the CFO, you will be a trusted partner, building out and managing various aspects of the finance department, including analytics, monthly reporting, accounting operations, systems, audit, and tax. You will be involved in preparing board presentations and will work closely with the senior leadership team. You will build strong relationships across all departments in the Company, instilling a culture of strong communication and partnership with finance.
The Controller will lead all day-to-day finance operations and supervise a team of six staff members including functional responsibility over SaaS metrics, accounting, payables, receivables, commissions, payroll, and international expansion. Additionally, the Controller will lead our insurance renewals, participate in benefits reviews and renewals, and assist with our banking relationships.
This is a tremendous opportunity for a mature leader with six to ten years of accounting and finance experience, ideally beginning in public accounting and then moving to the corporate world.
- RESPONSIBILITIES
- Oversee all accounts, ledgers, and reporting systems ensuring compliance with appropriate GAAP standards and regulatory requirements
- Maintain internal control and safeguards for SaaS sales results, revenue reporting, accruals, and cash management
- Revenue recognition: Serve as the subject matter expert for revenue recognition and technical accounting matters
- Cash management
- Coordinate all audit activity with Ernst & Young
- As we continue our international expansion this role will drive the structure, rollout, and ongoing oversight from a finance perspective
- Consistently analyze financial data and present financial reports in an accurate and timely manner; clearly communicate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements; and provide budget to actual variance reporting
- Key partner in the annual budgeting and planning process
- Support the CFO in engaging the board’s audit and finance committees around issues and trends in financial operating model
- REQUIREMENTS
- 6-10+ years of accounting experience
- Degree in accounting or finance, MBA desirable
- Strong GAAP knowledge
- Previous experience in SaaS (software as a service) preferred
- Previous experience at a Big 4 accounting firm preferred
- CPA preferred
- Ability to leverage strengths of the current finance team members, help to clarify roles and responsibilities and develop and implement training programs to maximize and reach optimal individual and organizational goals
- Ability to thrive in a fast paced, high growth environment
- Strong Intacct proficiency would be helpful, as would familiarity with Adaptive Planning
- Strong Excel skills
- Keen analytic, organization and problem-solving skills which allows for strategic data interpretation versus simple reporting
- Ownership mindset—data accuracy and reporting integrity are critical to our finance brand
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills; experience in effectively communicating key data, including presentations to senior management, board, or other outside partners
- Ability and desire to translate complex financial concepts to individuals at all levels including finance and non-finance managers
- Proficiency in defining, documenting, and implementing accounting and processes
