WordPress Designer & SEO Content Specialist
We're a small marketing strategy firm working with residential home service contractors. We're looking for someone who can take content briefs and strategic direction and bring them to life on WordPress, including design work, not just copy-paste publishing.
This is a project-based role. Work comes in as specific deliverables, not a fixed weekly schedule. The right person is someone we can bring in regularly as projects come up.
What the work looks like
We provide content briefs and strategic direction. Your job is to build it out on the site correctly, well, and in a way that reflects good SEO and design judgment. Work typically includes:
- Implementing pages and blog posts from briefs in WordPress
- Building and refining page templates and blog layouts (sidebars, CTAs, structure)
- Design updates to landing pages and service pages
- On-page SEO implementation: headings, metadata, internal links, schema
- Image optimization and formatting for web
- QA across devices before publishing
Our clients are on a mix of builders: Elementor, Beaver Builder, and GeneratePress/GenerateBlocks. You should be comfortable in all three without needing direction on how the tools work.
What we're looking for
- Strong WordPress skills with real page builder experience
- A good eye for web design, not just execution
- Solid understanding of on-page SEO and content structure
- Strong writing skills and good copy judgment. The more you can own on the page, the less hand-holding the briefs need to be
- Comfortable using AI tools as part of your workflow
- Able to take a brief and run with it independently
The setup
You'll work directly with the firm's managing editor. Briefs are detailed. Expectations are clear. Communication is straightforward.
- Expertise level: Expert
- Hours: Varies by project
- Location: U.S.-based only
