Position Overview
We are looking for an Associate Data Engineer who will play a vital role in designing, developing, and maintaining our data engineering pipelines and systems. In this position, you will work closely with our technical teams to ensure the seamless flow of data across various platforms and services. You will be responsible for supporting the implementation of data engineering solutions, troubleshooting issues, and optimizing performance to meet business requirements.

Key Responsibilities
- Pipeline Management: Monitor and maintain data engineering pipelines and various container-based services through user interfaces, SQL, PL/SQL, Python, and Shell scripts, with code managed in GitHub and deployed through Jenkins.
- Production Support: Serve as a member of our production support team to ensure the highest standards of product architecture that meet client requirements and maintain system reliability.
- Testing and Debugging: Test and troubleshoot data pipelines using test and live client data, utilizing Jenkins, Python, and Java to automate testing processes. Analyze logs to determine appropriate next actions and solutions.
- Monitoring and Analysis: Use dashboards for Kubernetes/OpenShift to analyze high-level issues, identify potential problems, and ensure services remain reliable and performant.
- Performance Optimization: Support performance tracking and optimization efforts post-deployment, collaborating with the performance team to implement necessary adjustments and improvements.
- Stakeholder Collaboration: Work with data providers to clarify requirements, remove obstacles, and ensure smooth data flow between systems.
- Automation Initiatives: Drive automation into routine activities to improve efficiency, reduce manual effort, and enhance overall system performance.
- Additional Duties: May perform other work duties as directed by the employee's supervisors or management team.
Essential Qualifications
- Educational Background: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related technical field.
- Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of the practical application of engineering science and technology, including applying principles, techniques, procedures, and equipment to the design and production of various goods and services.
- Design Proficiency: Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principles involved in the production of precision technical plans, diagrams, drawings, and models.
- Programming Skills: Proficiency in at least one programming language, preferably Python or Java, with the ability to write clean, efficient, and maintainable code.
- Database Knowledge: Solid understanding of SQL and database concepts, including the ability to write complex queries and understand data relationships.
- Version Control: Familiarity with GitHub or similar version control systems for code management and collaboration.
- Problem-Solving Abilities: Strong analytical skills with the ability to use logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems.
- Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively collaborate with team members and stakeholders.
Preferred Qualifications
- Cloud Platform Experience: Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform.
- Container Orchestration: Knowledge of Kubernetes or OpenShift for container management and orchestration.
- CI/CD Tools: Familiarity with Jenkins or similar continuous integration and deployment tools.
- Big Data Technologies: Understanding of big data frameworks such as Hadoop, Spark, or Kafka.
- Scripting Abilities: Experience with Shell scripting and automation.
- Data Warehousing: Knowledge of data warehousing concepts and ETL processes.
- Industry Experience: Previous experience in data engineering or a related technical role.
