Position Overview

As a Data Scientist on the Information Research team, you will serve as a key analytical resource for multiple stakeholders across the organization. Your primary responsibility will be to translate complex datasets into clear, actionable insights that drive business decisions. You will work closely with product managers, engineers, and executive leadership to ensure that data informs every aspect of our strategic planning and operational execution.

This role requires a unique blend of technical expertise, business acumen, and communication skills. Key Responsibilities

As a Data Scientist at arenaflex, you will:

• Lead data-driven decision making: Work with members of our Platform and Services teams to guide them toward better decision-making using available data. Translate analytical findings into clear, actionable recommendations that non-technical stakeholders can understand and implement.
• Advance insights through collaboration: Manage communications with partners and other teams throughout the organization. Collaborate with cross-functional colleagues to complete data projects and ensure all parties can leverage insights to further improve operations and drive business growth.
• Maintain client-focused expertise: Serve as a subject matter expert in your domain and product area through comprehensive data analysis. Develop trust among peers and ensure that teams and projects have access to the data they need to make informed decisions.
• Navigate ambiguity: Handle ambiguous issues skillfully and adapt tools and approaches to address complex questions that arise in a rapidly evolving business environment.
• Balance speed and quality: Identify trade-offs between speed and quality of different analytical approaches, making strategic recommendations about when to prioritize quick insights versus comprehensive analysis.
• Create analytical frameworks: Develop measurement frameworks to evaluate team success by partnering with teams to establish success metrics, create approaches to track data and analyze errors, and measure and evaluate information to develop a common language for all stakeholders to understand these metrics.
• Operationalize data processes: Establish robust data processes to provide partners with ad hoc analysis, automated dashboards, and self-service reporting tools, ensuring everyone has fair access to the state of the business.
• Support instrumentation and reporting: Lead data instrumentation efforts, dashboard and report building, and metrics reviews. Inform team projects and provide guidance on success/failure metrics.
• Conduct ad hoc analysis: Perform exploratory analysis and respond to urgent business questions as they arise, providing rapid insights that address immediate operational needs.

Essential Qualifications

To succeed in this role, you will need:

• Three or more years of domain experience in a consumer web business, or in a fast-paced, high-growth product or team environment. You should have a deep understanding of how digital businesses operate and evolve.
• Advanced SQL proficiency with the ability to write complex queries, optimize database performance, and work with large datasets efficiently.
• Proficiency in Python or R for data analysis, statistical modeling, and visualization. You should be comfortable working with data manipulation libraries and statistical packages.
• Proven experience using data to drive business results: A track record of translating analytical findings into actionable business recommendations that have measurably impacted organizational performance.
• Strong analytical and communication skills: Familiarity with data analysis and communication around data, including time series analysis, experimentation, data visualization, and defining KPI strategies for business areas.
• Excellent collaborative abilities: Strong interpersonal skills with the capacity to maintain productive relationships across multiple teams and departments.
• Bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Economics, or a related discipline.
