We're currently seeking a talented and motivated Data Scientist to join our Analytics team on a part-time basis. Position Overview
As an Information Researcher and Examination specialist within our Data Platform – Experiences team, you will provide crucial data analysis and support to platform, management, and operational engineering teams. Your work will directly shape how success is measured across the organization. You'll be responsible for defining the right questions to ask, scaling investigation methods and tools to support our growing business, and helping to build the vision for business analysis, solutions engineering for data-related business constructs, and strategic implementation.
This role offers the unique chance to pave the way for high-quality, high-speed decision-making while reporting directly to our Director of Data Science. You'll be instrumental in transforming data into a competitive advantage for arenaflex.
Key Responsibilities
As a key member of our Analytics team, you will:
- Drive Data-Informed Decision Making: Work closely with members of our Platforms and Services teams to guide them toward better decision-making using available data. You'll be the go-to person for translating complex data into clear, actionable insights.
- Advance Data and Insights: Manage communications with partners and other teams, collaborate with colleagues to complete data projects, and ensure all parties can utilize insights to further improve operations and performance.
- Maintain Client-Focused Approach: While being a domain and product expert through data, develop trust among peers and ensure that teams and projects have access to the data they need to make informed decisions.
- Navigate Ambiguity: Manage ambiguous issues and adapt tools to address complex questions. You'll need to be comfortable with uncertainty and able to create structure from undefined problems.
- Balance Trade-offs: Identify the trade-offs between speed and quality of different approaches, making strategic decisions about when to prioritize rapid iteration versus thorough analysis.
- Develop Analytical Strategies: Create scientific strategies to measure team success by working with teams to establish success metrics, create approaches to track data and analyze errors, measure and evaluate data to develop a common language for all partners to understand these metrics.
- Operationalize Data Processes: Build and maintain data cycles to provide partners with ad-hoc analysis, automated dashboards, and self-service reporting tools so everyone has access to the state of the business.
- Lead Data Instrumentation: Oversee data instrumentation, dashboard and report building, metrics reviews, inform team hypotheses, and provide guidance on success/failure metrics.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work with both technical and non-technical staff members throughout the organization. Your work will impact many partners across arenaflex.
Essential Qualifications
To succeed in this role, you'll need:
- Educational Background: Bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Economics, or a related discipline.
- Professional Experience: 2+ years of domain experience in customer web e-commerce, or in a high-speed, high-growth product or team environment.
- Technical Proficiency: Master SQL skills and proficiency in Python or R. You should be comfortable writing complex queries and manipulating large datasets.
- Data Analysis Skills: Experience using data to create insights and drive measurable business results. You should be able to translate analytical findings into actionable recommendations.
- Analytical Expertise: Familiarity with data analysis and communication around data, including time series analysis, experimentation, data visualization, and defining KPI strategies for your business area.
- Communication Skills: Excellent interpersonal and collaborative skills with the ability to maintain productive relationships across teams. You must be able to communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
Preferred Qualifications
While not required, the following would be advantageous:
- Industry Passion: Passionate about online communities, gaming, and streaming platforms.
- Operational Excellence: Experience in Operational Excellence, defining metrics, and building analysis reporting frameworks.
- Technical Data Experience: Experience working with software development and operational event data.
- Machine Learning Knowledge: Familiarity with machine learning methods such as logistic regression, decision trees, and neural networks.
