About the Role
As an Information Researcher – Real World Evidence at arenaflex, you will be responsible for generating actionable insights through advanced examination and creative methodologies in the clinical trials space. You will play an integral part of our Scientific Solutions team, working closely with cross-functional partners to address critical business questions through sophisticated data analysis.
This role offers the unique opportunity to influence both internal and external decision-making through the use of innovative data science and technology. You will conduct modern data analysis to help answer fundamental business questions, transforming raw data into normalized, analysis-ready patient cohorts that power evidence-based decision making across the organization.
Key Responsibilities
- Data Mining and Preparation: Mine raw datasets to deliver normalized, analysis-ready patient cohorts from in-house data resources or licensed platforms. Analyze and interpret results to shape comprehensive analysis strategies that align with business objectives.
- Collaborative Research: Partner with members of the arenaflex Clinical Trial team to deliver meaningful insights from real-world, clinical, and other data sources to support biopharmaceutical RWE and clinical trial requests. This includes analyzing unmet needs, safety and efficacy profiles in specific disease states, treatment patterns, healthcare economic burden, and cost-effectiveness modeling.
- Data Management: Clean, transform, and store data into a coordinated data lake for future analysis and broader team utilization. Ensure data integrity and accessibility across the organization.
- Statistical Analysis: Perform data mining and statistical analysis to analyze RWE/Real World Data (RWD) and discover new insights regarding patient populations and treatment outcomes. Apply advanced statistical techniques to extract meaningful patterns.
- Capability Development: Support the development of real-world data, analytics, and platform capabilities, applying advanced analytics and tools to address scientific inquiries from biopharmaceutical organizations.
- Research Collaboration: Collaborate on the design and execution of outcomes research studies, ensuring methodological rigor and scientific validity.
- Quality Assurance: Ensure high-quality, rigorous, and readily interpretable outputs from RWE reviews and investigations. Maintain the highest standards of scientific integrity.
- Reporting and Visualization: Build dashboards, analyses, and reports for both internal and external use, translating complex findings into actionable recommendations.
- Vendor Evaluation: Conduct due diligence on new real-world data providers and vendors, driving RWD quality assessments to inform investment decisions and partnership opportunities.
Essential Qualifications
- Statistical Expertise: Experience designing and executing robust and reproducible statistical investigations in the context of epidemiology and observational research with healthcare data. Strong foundation in study design and methodological approaches.
- Statistical Techniques: Knowledge of common statistical testing methods including generalized linear models, classification and regression, decision trees, unsupervised learning, time series analysis, and survival analysis. Proficiency in applying these techniques to real-world healthcare challenges.
- Big Data Experience: Experience processing large datasets from diverse data sources, with the ability to handle volume, velocity, and variety of healthcare data.
- Data Privacy Compliance: Experience handling protected patient health information (PHI) with strict adherence to HIPAA regulations and other privacy requirements. Understanding of data governance frameworks.
- BI Tools Proficiency: Knowledge of at least one of the following: Tableau, Power BI, Alteryx, Spotfire, or other BI/visualization tools. Ability to create compelling data visualizations that drive decision-making.
Preferred Qualifications
- Advanced Degree: PhD or Master's degree in statistics/biostatistics, computer science, mathematics, systems engineering, biomedical engineering, or a related quantitative field.
- Healthcare Data Expertise: Proficiency in EMR/Health IT systems, disease registries, and insurance claims databases. Understanding of the healthcare data landscape and data interoperability challenges.
- Clinical Data Standards: Expertise in clinical data standards, clinical terminologies, and controlled vocabularies used in healthcare data and ontologies (ICD-9/10/ReadCode, SNOMED CT, etc.).
- Regulatory Knowledge: Experience in Good Clinical Practice (GCP) and regulatory compliance guidelines for real-world evidence studies or clinical trials (e.g., ISO standards, MDD/MDR, CFR Title 21).
- Innovative Data Collection: Experience working on alternative data sources and alternative methods for clinical data collection, especially those enabled by technology platforms or mobile health solutions.
- Advanced Analytics: Experience with experimental design, Bayesian modeling, sequential data analysis, and computational statistics. Familiarity with machine learning approaches in healthcare contexts.
- Continuous Learning: Strong understanding of statistics and machine learning methodologies, with the ability to continuously self-learn technical and non-technical skills in this rapidly evolving field.
