The Role: Data Scientist - AI & Machine Learning
The Data Science team at arenaflex combines deep data analysis and exploration of our rich customer data to present a compelling vision around client retention and preferences across the vast ecosystem of our product offerings and content. We serve as the insights and modeling partners for the content, marketing, product, and engineering teams across our streaming platforms.
As a Data Scientist, you will use data to empower leadership with information, predictions, and insights that ultimately impact the experiences of millions of customers worldwide. Key Responsibilities
- AI & Statistical Modeling: Support the streaming business with artificial intelligence and statistical modeling focused on understanding and predicting subscriber behavior, including churn prediction, upgrade/downgrade analysis, price sensitivity, customer segmentation, survival analysis, experiment design and analysis, and causal inference.
- Innovation & Development: Develop and implement innovative AI strategies to address key business questions while identifying new areas to explore. You will be encouraged to think creatively and propose novel approaches to complex problems.
- Experimentation & Validation: Drive experimentation to evaluate the impacts of your models. Design and conduct A/B tests and other controlled experiments to validate your findings and measure business outcomes.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner closely with colleagues across the organization to identify and capture opportunities. You will also collaborate with other data teams to improve platform capabilities around data modeling, data visualization, experimentation, and data architecture.
- Stakeholder Communication: Present your proposals and findings to senior leadership. Translate complex technical concepts into clear, actionable business recommendations.
- Model Deployment: Work alongside engineering teams to deploy models into production and monitor their performance over time.
- Documentation & Knowledge Sharing: Maintain thorough documentation of your methodologies, findings, and best practices to facilitate knowledge transfer and team learning.
Essential Qualifications
- Educational Background: Bachelor's or Graduate degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, Econometrics, Statistics, or a related quantitative field.
- Professional Experience: 3+ years of experience designing, building, and evaluating practical machine learning solutions in a professional setting.
- Programming Expertise: Strong coding experience in at least one data-focused programming language such as Python or R, with additional experience in scientific libraries like NumPy, Pandas, or equivalent libraries is a plus.
- Machine Learning Proficiency: Proficient in analyzing data and developing ML models using Python with ML frameworks such as TensorFlow, scikit-learn, PyTorch, or similar tools.
- Statistical Modeling Foundation: Strong background in statistical modeling including regression analysis, clustering, time series forecasting, causal inference, and various other statistical techniques.
- Scalable Solution Development: Experience developing scalable mathematical models and solving complex quantitative problems that can be understood by non-technical colleagues.
- Insight Generation: Ability to derive insights and conclusions from data to advise model development and business decisions.
- Collaboration Skills: Desire to partner with other data scientists, data analysts, and key stakeholders in a team-oriented environment.
- SQL Proficiency: Strong understanding of SQL for data extraction and manipulation.
Preferred Qualifications
- Advanced degree (Master's or PhD) in a quantitative field such as Statistics, Computer Science, Applied Mathematics, or Economics.
- Excellent analytical skills with an advanced level of statistical knowledge and expertise.
- Demonstrated ability to select the right statistical tools given a data analysis problem.
- Ability to adapt quickly in a fast-paced environment with shifting priorities and deadlines.
- Strong communication skills, both for technical and non-technical audiences.
- Ability to multitask and prioritize multiple projects simultaneously while meeting tight deadlines.
- Experience with data platforms and applications such as Databricks, Jupyter Notebook, Snowflake, Airflow, GitHub, or similar tools.
- Experience designing and analyzing A/B testing and other experiment types.
- Experience thinking strategically to interpret market and consumer information, ideally related to a subscription service or streaming platform.
- Experience with distributed data technologies such as Hive, Flash, or similar frameworks.
- Experience with Natural Language Processing (NLP) and Neural Network (NN) models.
- Knowledge of cloud computing platforms (AWS, Google Cloud, or Azure).
