Position Overview

As an Information Researcher - Real World Evidence at arenaflex, you will be responsible for generating credible evidence through advanced research and innovative methodologies in the clinical trials space. You will be a vital part of our Clinical Sciences team, working collaboratively to deliver actionable insights that impact decision-making both internally and externally through the use of creative data science and technology.

In this role, you will conduct sophisticated data analysis to help address critical business questions. Your work will directly contribute to our mission of improving patient outcomes by providing high-quality evidence that informs treatment decisions, supports regulatory submissions, and advances medical knowledge. This position reports to the Chief of Clinical Data Science and offers the opportunity to work in a remote capacity, giving you the flexibility to contribute from anywhere in the United States.

Key Responsibilities

  • Data Mining and Preparation: Mine raw datasets to deliver normalized, analysis-ready patient cohorts from in-house data resources or licensed platforms. Analyze and interpret results while helping shape comprehensive analysis strategies that align with project objectives.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with various members of the arenaflex Clinical Trials team to deliver meaningful insights from real-world, clinical, and other data sources to support biopharmaceutical RWE and clinical trial requests. Potential projects include analysis of unmet medical needs, safety and efficacy of treatments in specific disease states, treatment patterns, and healthcare economic burden.
  • Data Management and Integration: Clean, transform, and store data into an integrated data lake for future analysis and broader team utilization. Ensure data quality and integrity throughout the entire data lifecycle.
  • Statistical Analysis and Insights: Perform data mining and statistical analysis to analyze RWE/Real-World Data (RWD) to discover new insights regarding patient populations and treatment outcomes. Apply advanced statistical techniques to uncover patterns and trends that inform clinical decision-making.
  • Capability Development: Support the development of real-world data, analytics, and platform capabilities by applying advanced analysis and tools to address scientific inquiries from biopharmaceutical companies. Contribute to the continuous improvement of our analytical infrastructure.
  • Research Study Execution: Collaborate on the design and execution of outcomes research studies, ensuring methodological rigor and adherence to industry best practices.
  • Quality Assurance: Ensure high-quality, rigorous, and readily interpretable outputs from RWE reviews and investigations. Maintain strict attention to detail and accuracy in all deliverables.
  • Reporting and Visualization: Build dashboards, analyses, and reports for internal and external use. Create compelling visualizations that communicate complex findings to diverse stakeholders.
  • Vendor Evaluation: Conduct due diligence on new real-world data providers and vendors, driving RWD quality assessments to inform project decisions and ensure we work with the most reliable data sources.

Essential Qualifications

  • Statistical Expertise: Experience in designing and executing robust and reproducible statistical analyses in the context of epidemiology and observational research with healthcare data. Strong foundation in statistical methodologies commonly used in clinical research.
  • Statistical Techniques: Knowledge of common statistical testing methods including generalized linear models, clustering and discrimination, decision trees, unsupervised learning, time series analysis, and survival analysis.
  • Big Data Experience: Experience processing large data from diverse data sources. Familiarity with handling complex, high-dimensional datasets common in healthcare analytics.
  • Healthcare Data Privacy: Experience handling protected patient health information (PHI) with strict adherence to HIPAA regulations and data privacy requirements.
  • Analytics Tools: Knowledge of at least one of the following: SAS, Power BI, Alteryx, Spotfire, or other business intelligence and visualization tools.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Advanced Degree: PhD, Master's degree in statistics/biostatistics, computer science, mathematics, systems engineering, biomedical engineering, or a related field.
  • Healthcare Data Expertise: Proficiency in EMR/Health IT, disease registries, and insurance claims databases. Understanding of the healthcare data landscape and experience working with various data sources.
  • Clinical Data Standards: Familiarity with clinical data standards, clinical terminologies, and controlled vocabularies used in healthcare data and ontologies (ICD-9/10/ReadCode).
  • Regulatory Knowledge: Experience in Good Clinical Practice (GCP) and/or regulatory compliance guidelines for real-world evidence studies or clinical trials (e.g., ISO, MDD/MDR, CFR).
  • Innovative Data Collection: Experience working on alternative data sources and alternative methods for clinical data collection, especially those enabled by technology platforms and/or solutions.
  • Advanced Statistical Methods: Experience with experimental design, Bayesian modeling, sequential data, and computational statistics.
  • Continuous Learning: Understanding of statistics and machine learning methods, with the ability to pursue self-learning of both technical and non-technical skills.
