You will also mentor junior underwriters and contribute to the development of underwriting best practices. Responsibilities: Evaluate and underwrite complex insurance applications across various lines of business. Analyze risk factors, financial statements, and loss histories to determine appropriate premiums and coverage terms. Make sound underwriting decisions, balancing risk appetite with profitability goals. Develop and maintain strong relationships with agents, brokers, and policyholders. Interpret and apply policy wordings, endorsements, and regulatory requirements. Identify potential areas of adverse selection or moral hazard and implement appropriate controls. Negotiate terms, conditions, and pricing with external stakeholders. Mentor and provide guidance to junior underwriting staff. Contribute to the development and refinement of underwriting guidelines and best practices. Stay current with industry trends, market conditions, and emerging risks. Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business Administration, or a related field, or equivalent experience. Minimum of 7 years of experience in insurance underwriting, with a focus on complex risks. Demonstrated expertise in evaluating diverse insurance products and exposures. Strong analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills. Excellent understanding of insurance principles, risk management, and regulatory compliance. Proficiency in underwriting software and financial analysis tools. Exceptional communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills. Ability to work independently and manage a demanding workload in a remote setting. Relevant professional designations (e.g., CPCU, AU) are highly preferred.
